In our forums, our members have been discussing utility irons after WRXer ‘jas904’ revealed he’s thinking about switching out his 4-iron. ‘Jas904’ asks for the thoughts of his fellow members as well as recommendations for the best utility irons currently on the market, and WRXers have been responding.

BiggiE427: “I’ve been gaming the cobra king utility with rogue Aldila shaft, and I have loved it. Great forgiveness, flight and feel for me. Easy to hit different shots as well. Currently awaiting a Mizzy hmb that I hit just as well if not better.”
Chuck905: “I’d recommend the Srixon if you can get past the looks and take on the forgiveness. I’m currently on the ping G410 crossover; I like the stinger flight, but it’s not as good feeling nor forgiving as my Srixon.”

gripandrip: “I have a 20 deg U45 that stays in the closet. While I like the feel and performance of the head, I’ve never truly gotten along with the stock Nippon shaft. I prefer my Z745 3 iron with the SF i95S. I’ve been meaning to change out the shaft, just haven’t gotten to it. It is a little longer than my 3 iron, so I can’t decide if I should match the length and swing weight of the 3 iron or something else. Hence the inaction. I would say the driving irons are good clubs if you are looking for a hybrid that is an “iron”, but I believe you need to find the right shaft.”
