What GolfWRXers are saying about leather grips

Published

@18underpargolf

In our forums, our members have been discussing the pros and cons of leather grips. WRXer ‘granata10’ is interested in knowing if they are worth the extra cash, and our members have been dishing on their experiences with the grips – with a heap of praise being offered up.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • NRJyzr: “I’ve just started testing a few leather grips. Both Best Grips and GripMaster leather grips have a fair number of fans; I decided to try both. I put a couple of Microperfs from Best Grips on the 9i and PW of my irons, and a GripMaster Roo on my SW. So far, I’m preferring the Roo. Going to keep evaluating both as the season goes on. I’m curious to hear thoughts of those who’ve used them for extended periods of time…”
  • coops: “In the past used Gripmaster, now all my clubs are Bestgrip Microperf. Leather is fantastic – and not only last longer, but you don’t need to wear a glove which also makes them good value in the long term. (I’m in Thailand, so it’s 30 degC or thereabouts and high humidity pretty much all the time… and don’t bother with or need a glove) I have a rib installed underneath the Microperf grip, in line with the stitching… and on top of the club shaft, so it sits in the v between thumb and forefinger. Without the rib, the stitched seam is barely noticeable I’d say, and they do offer a wrap version now I believe.”
  • jwhite86: “I use Grip Masters. I bought them last year and am working on my second season with them, and I won’t be going back to rubber grips. Like mentioned above, they just get better with age. I don’t use a glove with mine and haven’t noticed any slipping.”
  • busuwara: “I have been using Best Grips Microperf for the last 18 months, and they are great. I do not notice the seam at all and don’t use a glove, and they are still tacky. I have not washed them either and probably should but haven’t found any need to as of yet. I had my local golf shop install them. Definitely happy I went with them.”
  • Bgreene18: “I was curious about these too. So I ordered a Grip Master Roo and installed it on my driver. Absolutely love it! It’s tacky, real tacky, so if that concerns you – it’s not for you. I like a ribbed grip so the seam feels very good to me. A few of the guys I play with have also been fascinated by it. Will replace my other grips when they wear out with the GM Roo.”

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
  • driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300.  The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length.  I am playing a Ventus Red 70.   I play 70 grams in my fairways.  I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee.  When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time.  So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck.  The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
  • JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”
