GolfWRX Spotlight: Adidas CodeChaos with Boa

Published

on

Considering the number of materials and technologies available to designers and engineers, it should be no surprise golf footwear has gotten stronger, lighter, and more comfortable than ever before—even to the point of eliminating laces.

Since being introduced at the 2020 PGA Show, the Adidas CodeChaos series has been a massive hit, thanks to its stylish look, natural movement footbed, and proprietary Boost midsole.

Now, with the help of Boa technology—a system designed to offer an unmatched fit and ditch the possibility of having to retie your shoes mid-round—the new CodeChaos with BOA offers a different look and feel for those looking to keep their foot snug and dry regardless of the conditions.

Adidas CodeChaos with BOA: The Details

This shoe is a different take on the CodeChaos platform because it offers a hightop hydrophobic stretch-knit sock collar design, rather than the traditional lower-cut look.

What’s amazing when slipping these on for the first time is that even without tightening the BOA system, your foot feels nice and secure inside of the shoe—once you start turning the dial, you are literally ratcheting up the stability the shoe can provide.

The CodeChaos Boa, like their lowcut brother, offers a flexible spikeless sole that at least to me increases the feeling of being connected to the ground and firmly planted both when walking from shot to shot and also taking full-swing all over the course.

The knit hightop collar feels no more restricting than an athletic sock and after a few steps, it’s like it’s not even there.

Speaking to comfort, thanks to the soft knit design and Boost material there is no need to feel like you have to take them out for an easy nine to break them in either. They are as comfortable out of the box and any shoe you will find in the market today.

The only thing that could be said about the Boa vs. the standard CodeChaos model is the fit is more tailored in the toe and midfoot of the shoe so if you have wider feet the standard version of the shoe may offer a better fit.

The CodeChaos BOA comes in two colors: Cloud White with grey and Sonar Red accents and Core Black with Signal Green, and retails for $165 USD.

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
  • driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300.  The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length.  I am playing a Ventus Red 70.   I play 70 grams in my fairways.  I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee.  When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time.  So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck.  The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
  • JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”
