Life is too short to wake up with regrets.? ? We all deserve a chance to "getaway" from the daily grind. And so, my favorite place to escape to has always been Kauai. Oh, the garden island. Full of love, rainbows, epic views and good golf! I've been visiting this island for many years and it's starting to kind of feel like home. Truth be known I'm not there enough, but when I do visit it's completely refreshing. ? ? Kukui'ula, pictured here in the pano (swipe ??), is a part of that refresh that I look forward to every time. Tom Weiskopf designed the challenging 18-hole Kaua'i golf course that Golf Digest called “One of the Best Courses in Hawaii.” The challenging 14th hole, sometimes described as “a quintessential Weiskopf par 4,” has become legendary—and not just because of its dramatic ocean views, or sightings of spinner dolphins and humpback whales.? ? It’s been a few years since I had the opportunity to have a putter on the club count at a PGA-level event. @hughroyergolf fixed that with his playing into the Champions Tour Cologuard Classic this weekend! Congrats to HRIII for his fighting and tenacity. For those who don’t know, Hugh was out of action for over a year, fighting Basal Cell skin cancer that nearly put him down. The orange dots on the flange of this putter are there to make sure that the fight is never forgotten. Watch for HRIII this weekend as he reminds his peers that he still has game. #hriii #mannmade #pgachampions #5goldPINGputters #mannkrafted #customputter #milledputter #handmade #fightthefight #basalcellsurvivor #doingwhatilove #doingitoldschool #golfwrx #golfdigest #golfersjournal #sunridgecanyongolf

Could Kyle Berkshire outdrive you with his lob wedge? There’s a good chance the answer is yes

Published

on

Kyle Berkshire’s 302-yard 8-iron strike turned a lot of heads last month, and the World Long Drive champion has stunned golfers again, this time by producing spectacular numbers with his lob wedge.

The 24-year-old filmed himself on Instagram this weekend where he delivered a monumental strike with his lob wedge – with his trackman numbers showing 115 mph clubhead speed and 158 mph ball speed resulting in a 260-yard smash.

Check out the video below.

A 260-yard lob wedge strike is considerably longer than the average amateur golfer hits their driver. Last year, statistician Lou Stagner, used data taken directly from the USGA Distance Insight Report to calculate the average driving distance for male amateur golfers in different handicap ranges.

To put Berkshire’s latest hit into even further perspective, the long drive expert’s lob wedge is only five yards shorter than Ben Hogan’s stock driver yardage from 1948.
