New for 2020: Polo Ralph Lauren Golf & RLX Golf Fall collections
Ralph Lauren has announced its Golf & RLX Golf apparel Fall 2020 collection—featuring a range of men’s and women’s gear using recycled polyester with sustainability in mind.
The ‘Preppy’ Pre-Fall/Fall men’s collection contains an assortment of soft bright hues that are grounded in white and navy. Inspired by vintage Polo neckwear and iconic Ralph Lauren patterns, the updated pieces for 2020 also contain colorful madras, preppy foulards, tonal paisleys, and small-scale florals.
For the fall collection, hybrid layering has progressed with a change in the quilting layout. According to the company, this includes updates to higher functioning trims, as well as the introduction of an improved quality fleece layer – the polar tech. For the bottoms, multiple weights feature in design to make sure all needs are covered from classic everyday pants to outerwear down as well as a rainsuit pant.
Featured in the RLX athleisure release is a long sleeve crewneck as well as a half-zip—both in a new lightweight air micro-mesh fabrication aimed to provide maximum warmth inside or outside. Additionally, there is a new fabrication for the jogger—a heat tech Henley in a lux jersey, containing a soft hand feel and designed to provide excellent performance comfort. New colorways and prints are also introduced this season in tonal camos and Fall Blue.
The men’s Cruise/Holiday range is inspired by Thracian Cliffs, a scenic course along the Black Sea. The collection features the colors of lavender, light blue, and royal, grounded in navy and grey, and includes classic menswear prints and yarn dyes, such as dots, checks, foulards, and glen plaids.
The women’s Pre Fall/Fall delivery contains a rainbow assortment of soft bright colors grounded in white and navy and channeled in the form of small-scale floral prints, preppy scarf patterns, and tech eyelet fabric.
The collection includes a variety of skort silhouettes including knit jersey and eyelet flounces, four-way stretch pleats, and yarn dye ruffles designed to provide golfers with a variety of styling options.
The women’s Cruise/Holiday collection is inspired by the golf courses of California and features bright sport colors like neon lime, orange, red and royal, against a backdrop of Navy. The collection also contains pop colors featured in collar-tipping, zips, stripes and color blocking with a strong activewear aesthetic in mind.
Feminine prints including, florals, sailboats, and tie-dye plaid aim to balance the sportiness of the Cruise/Holiday range.
The Polo Golf and RLX Golf collections are available in select Ralph Lauren stores, exclusive private clubs and resorts and online at RalphLauren.com.

Did Rory McIlroy inspire Shane Lowry’s putter switch?
Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from a piece our Andrew Tursky originally wrote for PGATour.com’s Equipment Report. Head over there for the full article.
The timing of Lowry’s putter changeup was curious: Was he just using a Spider putter because he was paired with McIlroy, who’s been using a Spider Tour X head throughout 2024? Was Lowry just being festive because it’s the Zurich Classic, and he wanted to match his teammate? Did McIlroy let Lowry try his putter, and he liked it so much he actually switched into it?
Well, as it turns out, McIlroy’s only influence was inspiring Lowry to make more putts.
When asked if McIlroy had an influence on the putter switch, Lowry had this to say: “No, it’s actually a different putter than what he uses. Maybe there was more pressure there because I needed to hole some more putts if we wanted to win,” he said with a laugh.
To Lowry’s point, McIlroy plays the Tour X model, whereas Lowry switched into the Tour Z model, which has a sleeker shape in comparison, and the two sole weights of the club are more towards the face.
Lowry’s Spider Tour Z has a white True Path Alignment channel on the crown of his putter, which is reminiscent of Lowry’s former 2-ball designs, thus helping to provide a comfort factor despite the departure from his norm. Instead of a double-bend hosel, which Lowry used in his 2-ball putters, his new Spider Tour Z is designed with a short slant neck.
“I’ve been struggling on the greens, and I just needed something with a fresh look,” Lowry told GolfWRX.com on Wednesday at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. “It has a different neck on it, as well, so it moves a bit differently, but it’s similar. It has a white line on the back of it [like my 2-ball], and it’s a mallet style. So it’s not too drastic of a change.
“I just picked it up on the putting green and I liked the look of it, so I was like, ‘Let’s give it a go.’”
