New Wilson Staff Forged Wedges for 2020
Wilson Staff could be considered the originators of the first mass-marketed sand wedge with the R-90, developed by Gene Sarazen. Taking from that proven formula, Wilson Staff engineers collaborated with their tour staff to seek out short-game solutions and confidence-inspiring reliability.
The result is the new line of Wilson Staff Forged Wedges for 2020 including a high-toe option.
2020 Wilson Staff Model Forged Wedges
Building on the success of the PMPs, the all-new Staff Model Forged wedges offer everything you would expect in a premium forged short game weapon, including
- CNC machined face and grooves to maximize volume for pushing moisture and debris away from the strike point and to increase surface roughness.
- Soft feel, thanks to a forged 8620 Carbon Steel construction, along with a Wilson Staple: a Fluid Feel insert at the base of the head.
As for technology, the Wilson Staff Forged have an all-new weight muscle positioned high in the toe to move the center of gravity higher in the higher-lofted wedges to take advantage of gear effect and increase spin on both full and partial shots.
Compared to other forged wedges on the market, the Wilson is priced at a lower $129.99, which should make it a great contender for a lot of golfers compared to some other options in the category.
The Staff Model Wedges feature the highly trusted True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 steel shaft, and the staple Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip as stock options, with other shafts and grips available through Wilson custom.
Lofts options are 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 60 degrees in right-handed, with 52, 56, and 60-degree options available for left-handed players.
Wilson Staff Model High-Toe
Like others OEMs, Wilson is now attacking the popular high-toe category…just like you can attack short sided pins.
The Wilson Staff Model High-Toe Wedges combine a high toe profile with a wide versatile sole to offer the most playability to the most players.
“The new Staff Model and Staff Model High-Toe Wedges deliver a clean design, and precision milled club faces to give golfers a boost in confidence in their short game,” said Jon Pergande, Global Manager of Innovation.
“Designed with the feedback from our Wilson Staff PGA Tour players , the new line of wedges gives golfers more control, consistency and shot-making capabilities..”
The Staff Model High-Toe Wedges come in 56, 60, and 64-degree loft options and are priced in line with the forged model at $129.99 per wedge. Like the Staff Forged models, the High-Toe wedges will also feature True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 steel shaft and a Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip.
Both Wilson Staff Model Wedges will be available for purchase February 3, 2020.

Rickie Fowler’s new putter: Standard-length Odyssey Jailbird 380 in custom orange
Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from a piece our Andrew Tursky originally wrote for PGATour.com’s Equipment Report. Head over there for the full article.
…The Jailbird craze hasn’t really slowed down in 2024, either. According to Odyssey rep Joe Toulon, there are about 18-20 Jailbird putter users on the PGA TOUR.
Most recently, Akshay Bhatia won the 2024 Valero Texas Open using a broomstick-style Odyssey Jailbird 380 putter and Webb Simpson is switching into a replica of that putter at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
Now, Fowler, who essentially started the whole Jailbird craze, is making a significant change to his putter setup.
Fowler, who has had a couple weeks off since the 2024 RBC Heritage, started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup.
According to Fowler, while he still likes the look and forgiveness of his Jailbird putter head, he’s looking to re-incorporate more feel into his hands during the putting stroke.
He told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Championship that the 38-inch counterbalanced setup “served its purpose” by helping him to neutralize his hands during the stroke, but now it’s time to try the standard-length putter with a standard-size SuperStroke Pistol Tour grip to help with his feel and speed control.
Although Fowler was also spotted testing standard-length mallets from L.A.B. Golf and Axis1 on Tuesday, he confirmed that the custom Odyssey Jailbird 380 is the putter he’ll use this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

These look nice! Smart thing that Wilson is entering the High Toe game, and their wedge looks the best of the bunch yet. Can’t wait to try these!
