Forum Thread of the Day: “YOU are Tiger Woods”
Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from buckeyefl and puts WRXers in the shoes of Tiger Woods. Buckeyefl asks fellow members what they would do at this point if they were Woods, who announced this week that he had successful surgery on his left knee, and our members don’t disappoint with a great blend of considered and entertaining responses.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- ray9898: “This is a very minor procedure, certainly nothing to start making you question the future.”
- smashdn: “As Tiger: I love to compete but know that my body (back and knees especially) cannot take the week to week rigors of tournament golf nor the practice sessions that I must have to be able to compete with less distance than the young guys. My legacy will be dictated by how many majors I win and did I pass Jack. Majors are my focus. I’ve got more money than my great, great, grandkids could spend, so it has to be about performance in the majors. Everything revolves around them. Realistically The Open is the Major I am most suited/capable of winning with my game and the one I am most able to win for the longest. The Masters, The PGA then The US Open. I do what I need to do to ensure I peak for Augusta and for The Open. Maybe play two consecutive tournaments and then take a week off from competition but have longer range sessions the week before the major tightening my game while not focusing on where I place. Do simulated rounds for the course on the range.”
- mcputter: “If I were Tiger Woods, I’d have Tiger Woods mindset. I’d think I can still get to 20 majors- I’m Tiger MF Woods!”
- DavePelz4: “Personally I’m a bit bummed that Lindsey Vonn is getting married.”
- Titelist84: “At this stage of his career and health, I’d only tee it up 4 times a year, and I’d arrive at the course a month in advance and rent a house nearby. After the tournament, I would move on to the next tournament and do the same thing.”

Most forgiving players irons? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing players irons. WRXer ‘NorthTXGolf’ is on the hunt for some new irons but is putting a priority on forgiveness, and has reached out to fellow members who have been sharing their thoughts and advice on the subject in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- Sam217: “i230 has got to be one of the most forgiving players irons available. Cobra King Tour another. Don’t sleep on the New Level 480 DB coming out soon.”
- RangeBaller: “ZX5/ZX7 and i230 should definitely be in your testing pool.”
- YAMS49: “Another I210 homie here… Very highly recommended if you want/need spin and a consistent yardage.”
- golf-RN: “I second the Cobra King Tour irons. I am not the greatest ballstriker by any stretch of the imagination and I find the King Tours very forgiving. Toe strikes might lose 5 or 6 yards with no directional loss. You definitely feel the miss though lol but mishits from the center aren’t punished too hard regarding distance.”

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
- driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300. The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length. I am playing a Ventus Red 70. I play 70 grams in my fairways. I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee. When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time. So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck. The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
- JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.
- RELATED: ‘There were a number of red flags’ – Ludvig Aberg reveals why he turned down multiple LIV offers
One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:
“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.
Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”
And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
- otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech. He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly. Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy. He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for. There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind. World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
- konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.

My main focus would be around the majors and that’s it. I would play a tournament a month before the Masters, then again 2 weeks prior. I’d go to Augusta the week before and fall in love with the course all over again. Do the same for the PGA and the US Open. After the US, i’d take 2 weeks off, then leave and go play in Europe the week prior to the Open Championship. Get used to the time change, weather, ball flight, everything. Then come back home and play in the FedEx Cup and if I get cut so be it. Then take the fall off until Ryder/President’s Cup time, play in the Hero, then start all over again. His legacy will be known for passing or not passing Jack.
