WRX Spotted: Bettinardi Hexperimental putters
When it comes to putters there are a lot of ways to make the ball go in the hole — that’s the exact reason why so many people experiment with their putters. But when you’re Bettinardi, you don’t just experiment — you Hexperiment!
Spotted this week at the Memorial Tournament, we’re seeing some interesting new putters from Bettinardi which feature what appears to be a multi-piece construction along with some cool weld neck hosels.
Judging by the bolts in the bottom (hexagonal allen keys none the less — hex on hex on hex) the multi-piece design allows the designers and builders at the Chicago-based Bettinardi golf to keep the back part of the winged putter the same while testing different hosel configurations.
Although not an expert on machining, I would conclude based on my experience that when Hexperimenting with putters this makes it a lot easier and in the long run less expensive to test and offer players to test a larger variety of hosels…especially when you consider the potential for a mistake in the welding process this can cut down on a lot of waste. We spotted three neck options at Muirfied Village: crescent neck, plumbers neck, and welded slant neck.
In the end, we will have to wait and see if these designs are going to make their way to retail or if some of them will pop up in “The Hive” but one way or the other, they are generating a lot of interest out on tour.

The weld looks ugly. I hate seeing weld like that, it looks cheaply made and amateur looking, like how they make cars in the US

Need alignment lines on each of the wings like they did with the Minovai’s. I’d buy a plumber neck version if they did that.
