WRX Spotlight: Fourteen TC 920 irons
For many golfers, the word “forged” still summons the image of thin blades from yesteryear and clubs that are not as forgiving as their cast brothers – something that could NOT be further from the truth.
Thanks to modern manufacturing processes and evolutions in design, we are seeing forged clubs that are equal to, if not more forgiving than, cast offerings. And they can offer higher ball speeds to golfers of all abilities. An example of such irons: Fourteen’s new TC 920.
Fourteen has been around as a brand since 2002, and they know a thing or two about designing forged irons. From its small players cavity (the FH 900) to its super game improvement TC-340, it has always been the company goal to produce some of the best forged irons on the market that both perform and look great.
The TC 920 was born from a unique idea that irons CG don’t match up in the set for a player like a driver does. But to better explain the philosophy behind the design, I’ll let Fourteen take over for a minute
“Golf swing mechanics and dynamics are undergoing a massive change given the new drivers and their designs in CG and MOI. Reviewing these components and their designs, there is now a gap in the club specifications in the center of gravity (CG) with players irons, whereas they have largely remained unchanged. When put into play, the result is a poor balance between the metals woods and irons. The TC920 Forged iron has been design to bridge this gap and achieve closer CG specification to our modern day head drivers, and is matched to achieve overall balance and delivery in the golf swing.”
From this, my conclusion is that the goal with the TC 920 is to progressively shift the COG relative to the shaft axis and up and down depending on the club. Fourteen even goes a step further in detail to show the progressive nature of the design COG — not something you’re going to get from most OEM’s
From address, these look as clean as you would expect from a company that specializes in well crafted forged irons, minimal offset, confidence inspiring top line, and a satin chrome finish.

I have the FH900, seriously under-rated iron company.
