Abraham Ancer becomes Miura’s first PGA Tour ambassador

Published

on

Miura Golf has announced that Abraham Ancer will be the company’s first-ever PGA Tour ambassador ahead of this week’s WGC-Mexico Championship.

As a PGA Tour ambassador for the club manufacturer, Ancer, who has played Miura clubs since 2017, will work directly with the Miura family in Himeji, Japan to craft his custom-designed forged irons and will don a Miura hat at tour events.

Speaking on the announcement, Ancer said

“I switched to Miura irons well before any partnership; I just wanted to play the best forged irons available. I am honored to represent Miura and look forward to introducing Miura to the Mexican market.”

Ancer as well as club fitter Genaro Davila (who initially fit Ancer for Miura clubs two years ago) have also teamed up with entrepreneur Gerardo Benavides to form Dead Solid Perfect (DSP) Golf Mexico, which will become the official distributor of Miura Golf in Mexico.

Hoyt McGarity, President of Miura Golf, shared his thoughts on the partnership, stating

“This is a first for Miura, and it was important to us that this partnership transcend the traditional sponsorship model. Abraham is the perfect partner to grow Miura’s presence on and off the course. As one of the most successful Mexican golfers ever, his personal investment in Miura is the strongest endorsement as we increase our operations in Mexico and other parts of the world.”

Ancer will tee it up for the first time since becoming Miura’s first PGA Tour Ambassador today at the WGC-Mexico Championship at Club de Golf Chapultepec. The 27-year-old will play alongside Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau in the opening round at 2.03 pm ET.

    Nothing feels like a Mizuno

Well said. I have owned MB001’s in raw and hit another set once. Not impressed. Sure at one time they were a leader in feel. But forging process at a manufacture level has become mastered but all OEM’s. Only specialty builds Epon and Miura may do are funcky innovative CB designs.
Mizzy hands down leads the market now in feel and performance in the retail market. That means mass produced which can lead to many flaws when pumping out tens of millions.
This is always why Mizzy pulls from retail when building Pro sets. Thats how good their process is.

    Bubbert-

    “a bit limited”?

Are any of the new Miura irons touted in a LH model?

How about the “custom set” Ancer will be getting?

Even better -Miura’s CB57 iron set made for Jack Nicklaus? Think Miura would make that LH model?

The one article said LH golfers will be “waiting” for Miura.

One can’t buy what Miura doesn’t make.

    Ralph isn’t alone.

      Stopped?
In that case they begun making LH clubs again, but like many other OEMs the LH range/models are a bit limited.
For example Miura currently offers 7 iron sets/models for RH, and 2 for LH.

LH options have always been limited in the JDM market. Stop lying, Miura always had limited LH models.

Hope he’s still using artisan wedges. Love seeing guys on tour use something that’s made in my home town.

Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (5/13/24): Full set of ‘Tiger Slam’ clubs

Published

on

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a full set of ‘Tiger Slam’ clubs.

From the seller: (@CaymanS): “During the year of recovery from leg surgery that never quite healed, I was bored.  One thing led to another, and I ended up gradually building/acquiring the individual pieces to complete a set of “Tiger Slam” clubs.  They are what Tiger played to win 4 consecutive majors, which nobody has ever done.  This is not an exact replica of course, but something close that fit me to play a few times per year and experience what Tiger did.  But my bad leg, 4 shoulder tears, and age prevents me from the ball-striking needed to enjoy these to their fullest.  They may not be everyone’s cup of tea, especially since the driver and fairway shafts are regular flex and most players good enough to play these will need to change them, but it’s not a perfect world.  I am not a historian on this stuff, but my research indicates these are the same models Tiger used, with slightly different specs to fit me.

Full set $1,600, or…

…a donation for a Pro Kids fundraiser, or…

Driver: $70

Fairway: $250

Irons: $1,100

Wedges: $100

Putter: $350″
