Dustin Johnson switches to TaylorMade M6 driver at Saudi International

Dustin Johnson has switched from TaylorMade’s M5 driver to their M6 model at this week’s Saudi International.

According to the company, Johnson had tested out a range of different drivers at a simulator, and after some on course testing, the world number three decided to put the M6 driver in his bag, favouring it over other models for its forgiveness.

The move has proved a success so far at the Saudi International. Johnson is currently tied for the lead, and fired a blistering round of 61 on Friday. Speaking after the round, Johnson talked about how comfortable he feels with the new M6 driver.

“I like the golf course. If I keep driving it like the way I am right now – I switched to the M6 driver this week – and I really like it.

I’m driving it really well right now, so if I keep hitting it in the fairway, I’m going to really like this golf course.”

Per Fujikura, Johnson is playing a Speeder Evolution 661 Tour Spec X-flex shaft in the club.

Johnson is currently 16-under par and will go out tied alongside Haotong Li on Sunday as he looks to take home the title at the inaugural Saudi International.
