New “iron-like” Ping G410 Crossovers launched

Published

on

Ping has unveiled its new G410 Crossovers, which contain a 20 percent narrower sole and a more iron-like profile than their predecessors, the Ping G400.

The Ping G410 Crossovers feature a thin, maraging steel face which is designed for faster ball speeds, while the crossovers also include a 30-gram dual-density tungsten toe weight which increases the MOI of the club, aiming to provide golfers with the precision and control of an iron with the speed and forgiveness of a hybrid.

The G410 Crossovers are available in 10 different color codes (lie-angle): Maroon, Silver, White, Green, Blue, Black, Red, Orange, Brown and Gold. Speaking on the color code options provided, John K. Solheim, PING President stated

“We’ve expanded the color code options in the crossover to further customize them for lie angle to better transition into an iron set.”

The new Crossovers are available in 2 (17º), 3 (20º) and 4 (23º) and feature internal ribs that are designed to help stiffen the clubbed body and ensure a solid feel and sound at impact.

I recently bought the 20* version. Just in case some of you wanted someone’s take on who’s been playing it for a few weeks….I can still hit the high draw off the tee or fairway if I want, but I’d say I use this 95% of the time off the tee as a low stinger type of shot which it does very well. I already game the 17* G400 hybrid that I use as a quasi “3 wood” off the tee and fairway because I feel like I still need something I can hit off imperfect lies. On Trackman, I was averaging around 146 ball speed.

That is the ONLY thing the club doesn’t do well (hitting out of rough)

Now, this is the “driving iron” that Ping has needed in their lineup. The Rapture DI was close, but the choice of shaft and extra length just let it down a bit. I look forward to hitting the 17° model.

The shape of the muscle in the back points towards a version of those PING Blueprint forged irons being released soon.

That notch is huge! Starting to look like the old Cleveland VAS irons
