SPOTTED: A “TaylorMade M3” driver pops up on Instagram

Published

on

In November, two photos of a “TaylorMade M4″ driver were posted Instagram, and one of the photos indicated something called “Hammerhead” technology in the sole. Today, a TaylorMade “M3” driver was posted on Instagram from user “bryangolf,” who associates with PGA National Resort & Spa in his profile.

Based on the photo, it appears TaylorMade is using a different-looking weight track compared to its previous CG-adjustable M1 driver. The M1 drivers of 2016 and 2017 both used dual-weighted T-tracks to help displace weight toward the heel and the toe, and from back to front. It appears that this TaylorMade “M3” driver has a y-shaped track, also housing two weights. It also appears that TaylorMade is using carbon fiber in this “M3” driver, and it also displays the same “Hammerhead” technology in the sole as seen in the photo of the “M4.”

As the photos indicate, with the “M3” being weight-adjustable, and the “M4” having no CG adjustability, it could mean that the M3 is a replacement for the adjustable M1, and the M4 is a replacement for the non-adjustable M2.

What do you think about the photo of this new TaylorMade “M3” driver?

To the guy that says he bought a M1 M2 and an M4. How did you buy an M4 when it’s not even out? Until they show us the top of the driver I’ll hold my evaluation on my opinion till then.

Wait until all the info on the new M3 and M4 gets out there. Their approach with these drivers is a completely different than all others. Than you guys will really have something to debate about.

Those weight tracks in the back going to the sides will do absolutely nothing.

Does this one have white with the black top line like the previous models? Love the white and black way more than the grey and black.

He actually got in a little bit of trouble but not from TM. He doesn’t actually work for PGA National but he works for the LOFT Golf trailer on the PGA National property. He had to take down the post for liability issues with PGA National.

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
  • driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300.  The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length.  I am playing a Ventus Red 70.   I play 70 grams in my fairways.  I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee.  When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time.  So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck.  The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
  • JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”
