Grayson Murray fired his caddie during the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship
In his rookie campaign, Grayson Murray has been best known for incendiary Twitter takes. So you’ll be relieved to hear this Murray-related item actually focuses on action inside the ropes… sort of.
During Sunday’s final round of the Wells Fargo Championship, Murray reportedly had a spat with his caddie, veteran Mike Hicks. The 55-year-old looper proceeded to walk off the course, and one of Murray’s buddies picked up the bag for the remainder of the round. Murray finished tied for 63rd (after challenging for the lead in the opening round).
Interestingly, he’s had little to say about the split on Twitter.
Man. Here’s the bottom line with Murray: Will there be widespread reprimand for his behavior? Sure will. Is an unproven rookie doing battle with his veteran caddie a good look or one that plays well with his peers? Certainly not. Is it ultimately beneficial to his golf game to be an incendiary presence on Twitter? Probably not.
However, as fans, if every golfer on the PGA Tour were the head-down, take-care-of-business types, we’d have a heckuva lot less to talk about. Thus, we’re put in the position of chastising Murray for his bad behavior, but keenly following each new incident.
You’d call it the “Dennis Rodman Problem,” but the Worm was one of the best rebounders in the NBA. This returns us to one of the more curious realities of all things Murray: We give a rookie with one top-10 finish in 15 starts less latitude for bad behavior than a veteran. Which is to say, play better, Grayson Murray (a take he’d probably second).
And a final note: Murray’s actions have inspired some pretty well, inspired, trolling. Consider this profile picture from user jack_gleeson, one of the golfer’s persistent detractors. Impressive work. And bonus points for grabbing one of Murray’s toothless photos.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
