This savage golfer beat a 10-foot alligator with a putter to save his own life

Published

on

Tony Aarts hit his golf ball to 10-feet on a green at Magnolia Landing Golf & C.C. in Florida, but ended up hitting a different kind of 10-footer with his putter; a 10-foot alligator.

“My ball was about 10 feet from the pin and all I could think about was making a birdie,” Aarts told WPTV. “As I was walking about 5 to 6 feet away from the water I heard a splash, and as soon as I heard that splash I knew it was an alligator, and he got me. I remember having a club in my hand, and as soon as he had me in the water up to my waist, I started hitting him over the head. I seen (sic) the size of him, you know you can just see the claws as he was pulling me back and I’m heeling in trying to go the other way and he’s just looking at me and I’m looking at him. So I started hitting him in the eye socket, I hit him 3 times and he let go of my foot. so I crawled back and by that time the guys… they were there.”

ClevelandAlligatorAarts credits his “solid, heavy” weapon Cleveland putter for helping to save his life.

“It was a ten-footer,” Aarts said. “They dragged him out an hour after I went by ambulance they had him out of there.”

The man yielding the Cleveland went to the hospital with multiple puncture wounds, and the alligator was eventually put down, according to reports.

That ProV1 is not that important. Maybe next time he will just leave it in the water

if that was a cameron or a pgx, the club would have automatically beat the gator…in fact, the headcover would have jumped in to help. When you pay 4 times what a club is worth, it had better do something other than just hit a ball

so they kill a wild animal for doing what is natural? typical response. oh wait, all the other gators are like disney characters and would have sang and danced and got the guy’s ball and tossed it to him…
wonder if he would play golf next to a lion?

Come to Africa boys – if that was a crocodile the guys ball would have been the only thing left to give an interview.

I think an Odyssey #7 would be a good choice next time I’m playing in Florida.

Wow. Yankee here. I didn’t know they’d come out of the water to go after you. I always thought you had to provoke them or get really close that they felt threatened.

article says he was 5-6 feet from the water – if he is a Floridian he should of known to never walk that close to the water. alligators can leap 6 feet and they are fast. you’ve probably seen videos of shark attacks, think something like that.

Too bad his bag was so far away. He could have clubbed up.

No, no, no…always use your putter to fend off wildlife around the green whenever you can. Too many hackers try to get fancy with a wedge, make lousy contact, and it’s off to the prosthetics clinic.

my first wife would use a putter to fend me off when I was horny.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
