Triton non-conforming talk
The USGA ruled Wilson’s “Driver vs. Driver” winning Triton driver non-conforming, as Andrew Tursky wrote earlier this week. And while there are more than 30 comments on the front-page article, the takes are even hotter in the forums.
If the story intrigues you and you want to see what the peanut gallery is saying, you have to check out the thread. See the thread.
“Satisfied” with year-old or older irons?
File this one under “only on GolfWRX.” WavyRT asks: Is anyone happy with an iron set that’s more than a year old? He confesses he bought the Nike Covert VRS Forged irons last December and is badly itching for something new.
Haters will say the problem is he bought Nike irons. Join the discussion.
Most iconic forum post of all time?
A brand new thread that should gather some serious momentum. At the heart of the post: A most interesting question. User Hit Em Good asks, “What is the most iconic GolfWRX equipment post of all time, and why?”
The replies not only mention some of the great threads, but shine a light on how some posts inspired WRXers to become active in the forums. See the thread.
Greg Norman’s secret
Love him or hate him, the Great White Shark continues to make headlines in unique fashion. You’ll want to see what WRXers are saying about Norman’s latest bold proclamation about a game-changing development he’ll initiate some time next year. See the thread.
In praise of Little John Daly
If you didn’t catch any of the action from last week’s PNC Father/Son Challenge, beyond David Duval and son winning the event, John Daly’s son John Daly II was the star of the show.
No surprise, WRXers were excited by what they saw from the 13-year-old. Join the Little John praise discussion.

Most forgiving players irons? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing players irons. WRXer ‘NorthTXGolf’ is on the hunt for some new irons but is putting a priority on forgiveness, and has reached out to fellow members who have been sharing their thoughts and advice on the subject in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- Sam217: “i230 has got to be one of the most forgiving players irons available. Cobra King Tour another. Don’t sleep on the New Level 480 DB coming out soon.”
- RangeBaller: “ZX5/ZX7 and i230 should definitely be in your testing pool.”
- YAMS49: “Another I210 homie here… Very highly recommended if you want/need spin and a consistent yardage.”
- golf-RN: “I second the Cobra King Tour irons. I am not the greatest ballstriker by any stretch of the imagination and I find the King Tours very forgiving. Toe strikes might lose 5 or 6 yards with no directional loss. You definitely feel the miss though lol but mishits from the center aren’t punished too hard regarding distance.”

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
- driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300. The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length. I am playing a Ventus Red 70. I play 70 grams in my fairways. I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee. When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time. So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck. The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
- JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.
- RELATED: ‘There were a number of red flags’ – Ludvig Aberg reveals why he turned down multiple LIV offers
One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:
“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.
Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”
And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
- otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech. He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly. Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy. He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for. There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind. World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
- konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.

I couldn’t connect the link regarding Greg Norman’s interview on the BBC . Having said that , I have to greet with his assessment that golf has to modernize itself to get me keep millenials in the game. I’m way past 60 years and I have a son that was scratch when he was 13 but ended up playing hockey in the NHL . He’s still playing (KHL ) and hasn’t played much golf since he was in junior (12 years ago. The resin he doesn’t play is time and the stuffed shirts that run the game.
He recently was part of a bachelor party where 12 of them ( male and female) at a ClubLink course in the Toronto area) treated them rather poorly. They all were decent, presentable golfers but the course Marshall gave them a rough time I guess because of their age and happy go lucky demeanour. My son makes north of $3 million per season and at that level one’s tastes are rather refined. You may not dress like a stuffed shirt but you often act pretty decently because of those morality clauses.
Golf has to loosen up with the next generation, especially at daily fee courses. My son and his friends had a Bluetooth speaker going while they were playing and that was a no no on a nice course.
Greg Norman is right. Golf participation is going down and the millenials need a little incentive to help grow the game. If you want to compete fine, stick to the decorum and rules. Otherwise, if you want to attract a cohort of golfers that grew up with the internet, let them bring their toys on the course. We need more of the Mcilroy / Reed match play theatrics we saw at the Ryder Cup. If that doesn’t suit your purposes then maybe it’s you not the millenials.

… as long as their toys don’t distract anyone else or slow up play…

@ Patrick
you think it would help the people, and the game, if more thoughtless behaviour is allowed?
Imagine a concert with muted passages, or a film within a cinema with high tension,
and someone next to you behaves like within his own living room…
…do you really think, that it would help, if more and more people doesn´t care, what the other one might need?
Silence unwanted?
You may read something like Desiderata…
…there are already many games out there, where silence is hard to find…
…you would sacrifice a USP (from the game golf) for nothing, if you would try to mimic a amusementpark with a golf course.
