Ian Poulter takes on a car service employee who calls him “arrogant”

Published

on

From the “Only Ian Poulter” files: Poults is again embroiled in the backlash from a public calling-out of a heckler in the social media sphere.

Let’s back up.

If you’ll recall, during the second round of last week’s UBS Hong Kong Open, Ian Poulter made a quadruple bogey at the par-4 15th after taking three shots to get out of a bunker. He let a cameraman have it after the hole for running into position late while Poulter was hitting.

This didn’t sit well with a gentleman by the name of Glenn Stacey, who apparently took to Facebook to comment on the occurrence, calling Poulter “a true d–k.”

In the worlds of most professional athletes and celebrities, this would be the end of the matter. Not Ian Poulter, however, who called out a heckler earlier this year via Twitter, leading to the man’s firing. Clearly, Poulter has a different attitude than most public figures toward (some) trolls.

It’s unclear how exactly the post came to Poulter’s attention, but it did. Perhaps they’re Facebook friends? Friends of friends?

Anyway, the English professional had at least one car delivered by Stacey, who works for Reliable Carriers, at some point in the past (so perhaps the “Facebook friends” theory isn’t that far off). He crafted an Instagram post featuring a screenshot of Stacey’s post and his own commentary.

Now before drawing and quartering the tartan enthusiast, it’s worth noting that there’s ostensibly a practical purpose for Poulter’s actions: Making sure the guy doesn’t deliver any of his prized vehicles in the future. It’s difficult to argue, however, that Poulter’s method of publicly addressing the issue was superior to, say, calling Reliable and voicing his grievance. Poulter didn’t see it that way, but he did tell the Twitterverse he’s not lobbying for Stacey’s firing.

    This isn’t a football game.
It is supposed to be the last of the TRUELY Gentleman’s game.
Like Conners & McEnroe have forever changed the face/class of tennis, now so are the Polters’ of the golfing world doing so for golf.
Fans will forever be bourish, Playing Professionals are supposed to a little thicker skin; particularly after the match is over.
Who is there to protect the cameraman as Poltergeist screamed at him, venting His Poor shot!
Could you see Bobby Jones, Armie or Jack ever respond to a negative Twitter??
If someone made a live volcal comment at the tournament, yes do something, otherwise, try to have some dignity and protect the culture of our game.

While the idea that Poulter is a whiny d*** is not new, there’s not a person here who would continue to pay good money to a company whose employees were badmouthing them on the internet, especially if they used their company experience with you to do it.

It’s possible to acknowledge Poulter’s personality issues and think that the guy who badmouthed him is an idiot who deserved to get called out. They aren’t mutually exclusive concepts.

Poulter could have just blocked the dude or said something like, sorry you feel that way and ignored him. Someone with skin as thin as his shouldn’t be on social media. Oh well, he has to do something to stay in the news.

Nuttin’ but an arm swingin’, eye bulgin’ Ryder Cup poser! Maybe he should get fired up at the next major and fade like Sergio’s canary yellow Sunday outfit. Keep rising at the Ryder Cups Mr. P!!

Gotta be honest, I don’t see what Poulter did wrong here. Some guy posts his feelings about Ian in a vulgar manner and he’s not allowed to respond to that the way he sees fit. Maybe Glenn, as a full grown man, will think twice before he goes out on social media and insults someone he doesn’t really personally know. Seems to me he was hoping to have others back him so he could in some way bully Poulter like highschool kids try to do. Time to grow up man.

I was commenting more on the childish name he called Ian for the world to see and less on the arrogant comment he posted. I don’t fully understand though how Poulter is insecure just because he fires back at somebody who’s spouting off on social media. He’s defending himself just like most humans would do.

This post had to be created by an algorithm or something. Something so stupid doesn’t happen naturally, does it?

Have you all ever noticed on college or NFL football how the coaches rant on the refs on every freaking play, and Poulter is getting grief… Really!!!

No one is questioning the attitude of anyone who has posted a comment, cause I’m sure all these guys are angels, and honestly who cares what Ian does…

Is it just me but I found that Poulter has the Benjamin Button syndrome. He gets more immature as he gets older.

Poults is like the Donald Trump of golf. “Look at my Ferraris! You’re fired!”

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
