Acushnet IPO next week, set to raise $435 million
Acushnet, the umbrella company of Titleist and FootJoy, will have its initial public offering (IPO) next week, according to a report in the Boston Globe. It will trade under the symbol GOLF on the New York Stock Exchange.
The offering is set to raise about $435 million, with 19.3 million shares priced between $21-24. That puts Acushnet’s value at roughly $1.7 billion. Proceeds will go to previous investors, not the company.
Fila Korea Ltd., which purchased Acushnet in 2011, will have majority voting shares after series of transactions in advance of the offering, according to The Globe.
The Fairhaven, Massachusetts-based company registered $1.5 billion in sales during a 12-month period ending this past June, losing $1 million. News of Acushnet’s IPO broke in May when the company was reportedly valued at $2 billion.

Looks like a leverage buyout….pay off those that got to where they are and then move the risk to the public. Be hard pressed to reason that institutional investors will seek long term gains. This is a stock to SHORT.
