10 Revealing Photos from the 2016 Valspar Championship
GolfWRX was live this week from the 2016 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida. If you missed any of this week’s photos, browse the links below.
Jordan Spieth won the second PGA Tour event of his career last year at the Valspar Championship. This year, he enters as the world’s No. 1-ranked golfer and heavy favorite to win, despite a recent stretch of mediocre play. Also, he doesn’t have to compete with the short-putter-using Adam Scott, who refuses to lose of late.
But anyway, this week’s Revealing Photos from Innisbrook.
PXG’s new Charlie Murphy clubs
Maybe Parsons is a big fan of Chappelle’s Show? All jokes aside, those irons look bad (the good “bad,” not the bad “bad”).
*I know the joke has been used a few times in the comments of the front page story and in the forums already, but that doesn’t make it any less funny.
Finish that quote
“Damn you people. This…”
(Quote drops at :58 seconds).
“…is golf! Not a rock concert!”
Shooter McGavin quotes don’t get old. They just don’t.
Camouflage faded-denim, striped pants?
What’s he blending into?
George McNeill’s custom alignment line and sight dot
Dot’s so sweet.
CHIII stays up on trends
Is there anyone who stays up on the latest cool gear more than CHIII? He’s a #PXGtroop member, and now we spotted him with SuperStroke club grips, which Jordan Spieth, Sergio Garcia and Jason Dufner have recently put on their clubs.
Poor man’s putting aids
All you really need to get better at putting is a golf tee and a few rubber bands.
There’s no better way to keep your putting together than a few rubber bands, eh Padraig?
Quiet, please
How can Tony Finau expect quiet on the tee when his shoes cause such a disturbance?
K.J. doing K.J. things
Working out on a crowded range without a care in the world, and doing golf’s equivalent of wind sprints.
Maybe there’s a reason why he’s had tremendous longevity on Tour. Explain that one, Brandel.
Jason Gore is GolfWRX
Earlier this year, Jason Gore hosted a Q&A in the GolfWRX forums, raving about his performance with Callaway’s new XR 16 SubZero driver. And now, just a few months later, he has a Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 DBD in play.
GolfWRXers just never change their ways, do they.
P. Reed struggling to find a lob wedge
Last week it was a Bettinardi lob wedge, this week he’s testing a Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind and two different Vokey lob wedges.
Who knew both Gore and P. Reed were GolfWRX Members?

Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (5/8/24): Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna putter
At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.
It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.
Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna putter.
From the seller: (@kcsf): “Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna. -I will regret this one selling for sure. It does have one small nick on the face near the toe as shown, otherwise in amazing new condition. -BOS reconditioned and received last month. Oil can finish as done new by BOS when this putter was released many moons ago. -Head cover is authentic SC and shows age. Velcro is worthless of course, but does stay closed. -Length is 34.25 inches, original shaft. -Grip is old and needs replacing. I can have my pro do it prior to shipping at an additional cost of the grip only. -$475.”
To check out the full listing in our BST forum, head through the link: Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna putter

Mitsubishi Diamana WB: What you need to know + club build, on-course testing
GolfWRX’s Resident Club Junkie, Brian Knudson, was naturally excited to get his hands on Mitsubishi’s new Diamana WB shaft.
In this video, BK gives you a brief overview of the new WB, builds up a driver, and takes it to the course for some testing.
With the rebirth of the iconic Whiteboard profile, Mitsubishi didn’t just re-issue a classic, but rather infused all the company’s latest tech into a new shaft, paying homage to the original with its quintessentially Hawaiian-inspired stylings. A summary of that impressive roster of technology, below.
- 80-ton Dialead pitch fiber: Positioned in the handle, Dialead is designed to deliver greater ball speed via better energy transfer.
- Aerospace-grade MR70 carbon fiber adds additional strength, and 46-ton fiber in angle plies in the tip section reduce torque for tighter shot dispersion.
- Consistent Feel Design: Engineers target minimal variance across shafts (butt OD, weight, and balance point) to make the fitting process easier.
- Xlink Tech Resin System: Engineers continue to reduce resin content and increase carbon fiber volume for greater feel without sacrificing strength and durability.

Reed should go to Edel Golf and get custom fitted for a wedge. They have made a science out of proper wedge fitting.
