What do you want…some little flowers paint on the top? you see this club… do you have some complaint about the hosel… come on! classic and 14.5° for the 3 wood, good choice for 14° or 15°. Where is the slot…. sorry!

‘Anyone else not carry any fairway woods?’ – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing the strategy of leaving fairway woods out of the bag. WRXer ‘Nfogle’ says:

“I rarely need a fairway wood, and when I do, I usually end up with a penalty or just not hitting a good shot. My misses with the 2 iron keep me in play I just don’t get quite the distance out of the fairway I need. Anyone else have this problem and if so, what do you do?”

And our members have been discussing the issue, with plenty of other members taking the same route as ‘Nfogle’.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • schwollo: “Was in the same boat then got a G410 3 wood easiest 3 wood ever to hit and plenty long.”
  • jmtbkr: “At my age, 69, I don’t worry too much about hitting par5 greens in two. So my 3 iron bent to 20* is just fine for me. It also doubles as my driving iron on short par 4’s.”
  • capking: “I used to not carry any, my miss is a closed club face at impact, and most FW woods are closed at address. I fixed it by getting some jumbomax xl grips and by visualizing hitting it down the right side on follow through. Before this I went a year without any in the bag.”
  • Roejye: “I started out this year with no fairway wood, I went driver to a 17.5° Adams xtd super hybrid. Because I’m a club ho, and because my dad has one and likes it, I bought a Cleveland Hibore XL 3 wood off eBay. I love it off of the tee, but merely like it off the deck. As much as I love it off of the tee, it’s also possibly the most replaceable because my home course I have little to no need for it. Luckily I don’t carry a 3 iron or hybrid so I don’t need to get rid of it.”

What GolfWRXers are saying about the best club/clubs for a 5-year-old beginner

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing club options for a 5-year-old beginner. WRXer ‘CaseJ’ reaches out to fellow members, saying:

“I’m looking for a lightweight 7 iron for my 5-year-old daughter. I purchased one of these a while ago, but it has a standard head on it and is way too heavy. For her, it’s trying to swing a sledgehammer.

Any idea where I can find clubs specifically designed for kids?”

And WRXers have been getting involved and sharing their suggestions in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • FellaHeen51: “For a 5-year-old child? A putter. Easy for them to wield with a bit of instruction. They have fun knocking the ball around on a practice green. That’s been my experience with my grandson this summer past. Then add an appropriately sized PW. Learn from the green back.”
  • 76mpg: “US Kids clubs.”
  • Vater: “FWIW, I started my five-year-old with a hybrid that was the right length for his height. It was kind of dumb luck where it was one of the few clubs that fit him and wasn’t a toy at my local golf shop. From what he’s told me, the size of the head made him feel like he could hit better. That experiment was a success, and I quickly got him a whole set (Wilson) with a driver, short iron, wedge, and putter. Conveniently again, starting with the hybrid was a good way to go because it was a club that wasn’t also in the set. Good luck on your journey – my boy and I have been hitting the range regularly together for almost a year, and I think it’s one of the best things you can do to get your kid outside at that age.”
  • Bizzie80: “Check junior golf threads. Lots of starter info. Get her the U.S. kids yard club for her height and a putter from them to match. All you need to start her off.”

‘Replacing my old driver’ – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been putting forward suggestions for ‘Bite335’ who is looking to replace his old driver. ‘Bite335’ is on the hunt for more forgiveness than his old gamer (Ping i15) and feels that a change to a newer driver will help. Our members have been putting forward their picks in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Olddoncarlo: “Get a pre-owned Titleist TS2. You won’t be sorry.”
  • GolfTurkey: “FWIW, I would start with the TSi3 for a similar shape but more modern forgiveness. Then you could try stuff like setting the hosel to C1 and/or putting the weight in one of the toe settings to help with the left miss.”
  • T Creer: “G410. They are $400 new and adjustable.”
  • Davidv: “Ping G400 Max should do it for you.”
