The 7 most underrated players at the 2015 Wyndham Championship
They call the PGA Championship “Glory’s Last Shot,” since it’s the last major of the year, but the Wyndham Championship is really the last shot for golfers to earn enough points to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs.
Golfers outside the top-125 are fighting to extend their season this week and qualify for The Barclays with a strong finish at the Wyndham.
While the PGA Tour guys have their 2015 season hanging in the balance, DraftKings has $400,000 on the line this week — $100K to the winner, $20,000 for second, $10,000 for third and cash prizes are awarded down to 34,355th place.
It’s $3 to enter, so there’s no excuse not to sign up and get in the action.

Below, I give you my seven best value picks — players I believe to be underrated by DraftKings this week.
7 underrated players
Sedgefield Country Club, host of the 2015 Wyndham Championship, is a Donald Ross design measuring 7,127 yards as a par-70. It’s a short layout that has relatively small, undulating and slick greens.
As the statistically easiest par-70 course on the PGA Tour schedule last year, the course suits an aggressive player who will attack pins and make a lot of birdies.
With that in mind, here’s my value picks:
Tiger Woods ($8,200)
Hold on, let me explain.
If there’s ever a week to take Tiger Woods, it’s this week. Yes, he just missed the cut at the PGA Championship, and he’s had his worst year ever. But, with the relatively short layout at Sedgefield, he won’t need to hit many drivers. So if you still think he has the iron game to compete, he’s a great choice at just $8,200.
And if you believe at all in the “clutch” factor, Tiger needs to play well this week to make the FedExCup Playoffs. So there’s that.
Jason Dufner ($7,600)
Dufner is a big name with a small price tag, and this could be his week to break through after a mediocre season.
He currently ranks 39th on Tour in GIR, and he’s made six straight cuts with three top-25 finishes, including a T18 at the U.S. Open. Although he hasn’t been happy about his putting, he’s playing steady golf of late, and he’s coming to a course that suits him well. I’m all in on the Duff this week.
Boo Weekley ($6,600)
Weekley has made 9 of his past 10 cuts with three top-10 finishes in that span. He also finished T33 in last week’s PGA Championship, so he’s playing consistently solid golf as of late.
He also ranks 57th on Tour in GIR and 56th in birdie average. With Weekley, you’re getting a player who’s a near lock to make the cut, and could easily contend at Sedgefield.
J.J. Henry ($6,600)
Never underestimate the power of momentum, and Henry has plenty of it. He’s made five straight cuts, including a win at the Barracuda Championship two weeks ago.
Even more importantly, Henry is ranked 10th in GIR in 2015. He’s a great pick this week at any price, but at $6,600 he’s a STEAL.
Kyle Reifers ($6,300)
Speaking of of momentum, Reifers finished in second place at the PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship before the top golfers went out and struggled at Whistling Straits. He’s also ranked 79th in GIR this year — so at only $6,300, he’s a risk I’m willing to take.
Adam Hadwin ($6,000)
The last time he teed it up on Tour was the Barracuda Championship, and he missed the cut. I know, not what you wanted to hear. That being said, he finished T18, T7 and T21 respectively in his three previous starts.
I’m not taking him for his play of late, however, I’m taking him because he couples consistent ball striking with trusty putting. He’s ranked 58th in strokes gained putting, 85th in GIR and 46th in driving accuracy.
At $6,000, you’ll be hard pressed to find a statistically better combination for this course, or any course for that matter.
Chad Collins ($5,800)
If you top loaded your lineup and you need someone cheap that you’re just hoping makes the cut, Collins is your guy. Although he missed the cut at the Quicken Loans, his most recent outing, he’s made 16 of 22 cuts on the year — fairly reliable for such a low cost.
He’s also ranked 66th in driving accuracy, 98th in strokes gained putting and 47th in scoring average — and scoring is really all that matters, right?

this seems a little haphazardly done, i really greatly enjoy this series of fantasy picks and think you’ve done a tremendous job this season, really, but this time it just seems like you looked at a statistical ranking of players for GIR and just cross referenced them with DK prices

What is the this? A fantasy betting pool on who might make the cut? Tiger is what? #300th in the world?
