Billy Hurley III’s missing father located in Texas

Published

on

On Tuesday at the Quicken Loans National, PGA Tour golfer Billy Hurley III pleaded with the media and fans to help find his father, Willard Hurley Jr., who was reported missing by his wife on Monday.

Willard was located on Friday in Texas by a citizen who recognized him from media coverage and contacted local officials, according to a statement from the Leesburg (Virginia) Police Department. Willard, who left the family home in Leesburg, Va., on July 19, told the police he felt “fine physically,” said he was “simply traveling,” and “did not wish to reveal the reasons behind his departure.”

Hurley III spoke on his appreciation to the fans and media after his father had been located:

“We couldn’t have done this, he wouldn’t have been found without the help of the PGA Tour and the Golf Channel and the greater golf media and all the articles, all the T.V. spots that were run,” Hurley III told the PGA Tour. “Thank you so much for helping us find my father.

“We don’t know what comes next at this point. We just wanted to say thank you very much for helping us find him, I mean the public, the law enforcement, all the media throughout the country. My family and I are incredibly appreciative for helping us be able to find him.”

Billy made the cut this week at the Quicken Loans, and says he will continue to play for the remainder of the event. But he did have a message for his father.

“Dad, I love you and we want you to come home,” Hurley III said. “That’s the bottom line. We just want you to come home.”
