Top-5 putts ever on the Price is Right’s “Hole-in-One” game
The Price is Right “Hole-in-One, or Two” game entices as much excitement, passion and nerves from its competitors as golfers feel in major championships. Instead of competing for a million dollars, golfing notoriety and a trophy/Green Jacket, however, Price is Right contestants win a shiny new car — which is almost just as good (until they have to pay taxes on said vehicle).
Aired on Friday, this 84-year-old woman lit up the Price is Right stage with her throwback stroke.
But where does her Sam Snead stroke stack up against the best holes-in-one, or two, of all-time on the show?
I rank my top-5 favorites.
Broomstick
For all the golfers looking to replace their anchored putting strokes in 2016, here’s the pseudo-anchored (yet legal), cross-handed broomstick stroke.
The engineer
The engineer, using all of the angles to her advantage. This putt probably would have ranked lower on the list if it wasn’t for the stereotypical 90s outfit, hairdo and Bob Barker’s wittiness — nostalgia played an unfair advantage in the making of this list, so for that I apologize.
Natalie Gulbis, bank shot
Natalie Gulbis — who admittedly adds another level of bias to this list — makes a cameo to show this guy the line, with Drew Carey breathing down her neck. The contestant rims the putt out, but utilizes the backboard better than a Tim Duncan mid-range jumper — and it falls into the cup at the perfect speed.
Thanks, Natalie.
Don’t choke!
It’s less pressure to make a 10-foot putt than a 3-footer. That’s just a fact (well, kind of). How about a 1-footer, which should be a guarantee, in front of hundreds of screaming fans, with a $87,000 car on the line? Pressure cooker.
Before the putt, Drew Carey tells him “I don’t even golf, I could make this putt.” Thanks for putting his mind at ease, Drew.
But with the entire Price is Right audience on his back, fending off potentially crippling embarrassment, this kid from Clemson stepped up and knocked it home. The people’s champ.
Heartbreak Hotel
The best “Hole-in-One, or Two” putt video of all-time goes to this sequence of two putts.
A 1964 Vintage Bentley on the line? No big deal, this guy just steps up and knocks it in the back of the cu… TOO FIRM! Dikembe Mutombo came out of no where and swatted it out of the cup.
The contestant was visibly flustered, and rightfully so. He thought he sunk it. Drew Carey, the audience and even the Bentley’s front-side driver seat thought he sunk it — truly devastating.
Golf is about overcoming adversity, however, and not letting the bad bounces get you down. That’s where this contestant showed his true mettle as a golfer and competitor.
It takes icy veins and a short memory to step up and knock the second putt in after that kind of heartbreak. And by dropping that putt, he truly earned the No. 1 slot on this list, and the vintage Bentley (which is also a nice prize, too).

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

I think Tiger once was on the show as a kid and made the putt. you should have included that one.
