SkratchTV’s fan-controlled camera at WGC-Cadillac range

Published

on

On Thursday starting at 10 a.m., SkratchTV put fans in control of live feed at the range of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.

Using the hashtag #SkratchCam, Twitter users picked their favorite player, and Skratch TV moved the camera to focus on whoever received the most votes.

Early in the broadcast, SkratchTV posed the question below to its viewers.

Tough one. Needless to say, the live feed focused on Phil for awhile.

This question, posed after more players showed up on the range at Doral, was less one-sided.

If you guessed Rory won that vote, you’d be correct. After watching #Rors hit irons and rip drives, the SkratchCam moved down the range to Kuchar, Spieth, Bill Haas, Zach Johnson and more. Even Donald Trump made an appearance on camera.

SkratchTV aims to engage a younger audience, and take golf fans where they’ve never been before on Tour. By putting fans in charge of a live feed on the range a tour event, it’s another step in the millennial’s direction.

Yeah this is just incredibly poor foresight by the golf channel. This should have already been a thing… i know ive said it and i know others have thought it.

How is this a millennial thing. What’s sad is it took scratch tv to do what TGC should’ve figured out years ago. Been asking for better camera angle for years

The event has been around since 1922, making it one of the oldest on the PGA Tour calendar. Over the years, it’s been held at a variety of courses across the Lone Star State, but it’s found its home at TPC San Antonio in recent years. Some of the biggest names in golf have taken home the title here, including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Ben Crenshaw.

GolfWRX has its usual assortment of general galleries, WITBs and special pull-out albums. As always, we’ll continue to update the links below as more photos come in from TPC San Antonio.
