Allenby blasts media, sticks to his guns
For whatever reason, Robert Allenby chose to speak with reporters briefly this morning at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Regarding his “abduction” tale, which has taken more turns than an Agatha Christie novel, Allenby’s comments had a few themes.
No friends in the media
Allenby expressed his dismay with the way his story has been reported and allegations that have been leveled against him.
[quote_box_center]“The media have decided that they’re the most amazing experts at investigations,” he said. “Let the police do their job.”[/quote_box_center]
Allenby then said that this week he “realized that I don’t have any friends in the media.”
Let the police do their job
Regarding the investigation, Allenby said he was “Hoping in the near future that something will be reported. I’d appreciate it if we’d let them [the police] do their job. The police will come out with the right story. Let them do their job. Don’t get in the way of them. Everything will be great.”
He stated further: “Hopefully we’ll hear something by the end of the week.”
Telling the same story
Allenby maintained that his story hasn’t changed.
“My story has stayed the same,” Allenby said. Adding further that he has “no memory” from 11:06 p.m. until 1:27 a.m. He also said, “I told you what someone told me.”
He laid out his basic feelings about the situation and what has transpired since.
[quote_box_center]“I was in a place having a nice dinner … then I became a victim … this whole thing’s been turned around.”[/quote_box_center]
It was just last week that a roughed-up, scabby headed, puffy eyed Allenby told a tale of being kidnapped, thrown in a trunk and being passed out in a park several miles from the Amuse Wine Bar where he had been drinking.
Following his initial comments, a slow march of witnesses came forward. First, the “homeless woman” who Allenby mentioned had helped him in the park said she was with Allenby just blocks from the wine bar, not several miles away.
The story has that has emerged is a substantial departure from Allenby’s original account. You almost need a timeline to help make sense of the mess. Fortunately, the Golf Channel created just that.
Friday, Jan. 16
8 p.m. – Allenby, his caddie and a friend take a taxi to dinner at the Amuse Wine Bar in downtown Honolulu.
10:48 p.m. – Allenby is approached by three unknown individuals, two men and a woman, and pays his dinner bill (confirmed via video).
11:06 p.m. – Allenby is seen exiting the Amuse Wine Bar via a parking garage with the three unknown individuals (confirmed via video).
11:20 p.m. – Allenby’s credit card is used to purchase two bottles of tequila at a nearby liquor store.
11:30 p.m. – Two local homeless men, Toa Kaili and Chris Khamis, say they spot Allenby passed out across the street and about 100 yards from the wine bar. Kaili and Khamis say the Australian is unhurt at this time.
Saturday, Jan. 17
Midnight – Two sources confirm Allenby is seen with a group of people at Club Femme Nu, an adult entertainment establishment, which is less then a mile from the wine bar.
1:15 a.m. – Kaili and Khamis say that they return to find Allenby just a few feet from where he had been earlier on the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Piikoi Street and attempt to stand him up which, they say, is when the Australian falls and hits his head on a rock causing his injuries.
1:30 a.m. – With the help of a homeless woman, Charade Keane, and another bystander, Allenby takes a cab back to the Kahala Hotel, which is six miles from the wine bar.
1:55 a.m. – Allenby contacts the Honolulu Police Department and files a report, claiming he was kidnapped, beaten, robbed and thrown from a trunk six miles from the wine bar.
The Golf Channel’s Rex Hoggard has offered the most poignant comment on the Australian’s affair so far.
[quote_box_center]“Allenby was robbed, that much is certain. He wasn’t kidnapped and, at least as far as the police are currently concerned, he wasn’t assaulted. After that, the fine line between fact and fiction becomes as dark and cloudy as a lonely street corner.”[/quote_box_center]
Nothing Allenby said today to shed light on the situation.

What the hell happened to his caddy and friend in the story that originally went to dinner with him? Did they just leave him homeless drunk to wander aimlessly? This story is classic! He probably stole Mike Tyson’s tiger and woke up married with a baby in the room. What a gimp!

Umm, if you don’t want sketchy things to happen a good place to start is don’t go to sketchy places. “I was in a strip club and a bar and bad people were mean to me and beat me up.” Be glad all that you lost was some skin and some cash.

‘Blasts’? That was a damp-squib of a blast if ever I heard one!
Allenby’s story hasn’t changed, he initially relayed eye-witness accounts of what happened to him, to the media and other persons. If you woke up in a hospital and a nurse said you’d been in an accident, you’d probably believe them. Allenby was both lucky and unlucky that he didn’t wake up in one!

Rarely do i ever stick up for the media, but in this case they are actually doing their job by looking into a shaky story at best and asking follow up questions. Wish stories like the IRS coverup, Fast and Furious, Benghazi ever changing story, constant misreported obamcare enrollment numbers, reporters having email hacked, would be covered with half as much vigor as the media has covered this story and deflate gate.

Allenby ran into AK at Fem Nu and AK showed him how to party
Seriously, if he was drugged get a toxicology test done and who takes a selfie of themselves after getting beaten up in their hotel room?? I would be in a hospital.

Something is fishy to me, as in salmon. K&K, (the homeless guys), spot RA about 100 yards from the wine bar, passed out and uninjured. Half an hour later, RA is seen with a group at a strip club a mile down the road. Then, an hour and a quarter later, RA has spawned like a salmon and passed out within a few feet of the original location where he passed out earlier. This time, however, K&K generously decide to “help” RA and unfortunately, RA falls down and bumps his noggin. Yeah, sure.

I think Allenby ran into AK at FEM Nu and AK showed him how to party…..
Seriously, if Allenby said he was drugged get a toxicology test to prove it. Plus that face looks like it was scraped by a rock and not a punch in the face. Plus who takes a selfie of themselves in a hotel room….If I was beaten up I would be in a hospital.

Something’s fishy to me, as in salmon, maybe. K&K (the homeless guys) spot RA passed out 100 yards or so from the wine bar at 11:30. A half hour later, RA is seen with a group at a strip club a mile away. Then, an hour and a quarter later, K&K observe that RA has spawned like a salmon back to the original location where he was passed out earlier.

He is a target alright. Robert has always been difficult. He is not the best pro am partner. A complainer and always pissed off about something. The pros make there living by good golfing and being in the spotlight and every so often they get bit by the negative press. Be cool and say as little as you can. And try being nice once and a while to the little people.

The media loves to leave out pertinent information and add evasive information so that a situation like this provides entertainment for those that also like to trash and thrash. Most people in the media now days have no conscious or heart. I see nothing reported that Allenby has done to hurt anyone. The media are not doctors, nor police investigators! They know nothing about trauma. The media are not reporting facts just rumors and gossip. They are even stating what they (Media) believe happened. Hey Media, if you can trash someones life and still sleep at night then check out the definition of psychopaths!

If I suspected I’d been drugged I would have gone to the hospital for some toxicology work. If they found anything in my blood other than tequila, sushi, wine and stripper glitter then I would stick to my guns about the story.

He’s mad at us now!! Imagine that, he drops some cockeyed story of kidnapping, a $3400 dollar restaurant, errrrrr, bar tab, villagers beating him senseless and apparently memory’less, and he’s now mad at me for calling his tale into question? Rob, say it ain’t so my friend. Why in the hell didn’t he
just take his auzzie frame home, lick and repair his wounds, withdraw from 3 weeks worth of tourney’s and re-up at the Honda Classic, or whatever the hell title sponsor it is now? What, did he think the locals would call a presser in Hawaii and claim they beat the crap outta some tall white guy and we’re looking to make it right and return his wallet and credit cards? Dude, take your salty a** home, get a new public relations team, rearrange your swing and mental prep, and try 2015 all over again. Oy Oy Oy!!!
