Evolve Golf – The Epoch Tee
Honestly, I never had a preference for a particular tee. I was always more worried about the larger equipment for my game – namely my clubs. Mostly I would just use whichever wooden tee I happened to pick up at a demo day or attached to some golf apparel I acquired. Over the past weekend I played 18 holes with Evolve Golf’s Epoch Tees and actually noticed a difference. Pushing in to the ground was now smoother, more effortless. In addition, the same tee lasted for the entire round. Even the high-swing speed member of our foursome managed to only break one of the tees when using his driver where he would usually break the wooden tee at every other, if not every, tee box.
We first saw the Epoch at the PGA Merchandise Show. We were shown how the posts all hit the outsides of the dimples in the golf ball in an effort to be frictionless. In addition, we were told about the slim shaft of the tee – a fact that I noticed did offer easier insertion just as it is billed. However, the best part about the tees in my opinion is the sustainability factor. First introduced in 2004, the tees are made from renewable and recycled materials. In fact, Evolve is commiteed to being a completely sustainable company. The Epoch is touted to last 10 times longer than other traditional tees and the company uses recycled and renewable materials in its packaging, boxes, and trade show booths. Testimonials from courses claim that these tees reduce the amount of tee litter on the course.
Technology, testing, and other information from Evolve states that the Epoch:
– creates the lowest coefficient of friction between the ball and tee
– eliminates deflection at impact and increases ball speed and control off the tee
– scientifically proven via a series of rigorous independent robotic tests combined with extensive player testing at a wide range of swing speeds to increase distance by 3 to 12 yards and a 4 to 9 yard improvement in accuracy
– $6.95 for a pack of 50 provides a greater dollar-for-dollar distance and accuracy improvement than with a new high-tech driver, dozen golf balls, shaft, or any other piece of equipment

I use these and think they are a great tee, I appear to be consistantly straighter off the tee using these! The 1-1/2″ short tees are just the right height for a fairway or rescue to be played off the tee. They are now on sale in the UK at 0800SPORTS

I have used these tees and think they are great. In general though, they are just a tee.

These tees are hard on the clubface, they leave white marks that can only be removed with some metal polish.

I’ve used this tee and was not impressed at all. Would rather buy five times as amny wodden tees for the same price. The life of the tee was usually only one hole. Had one that lasted 3 and was excited about it. Not for me, would rather use the zero friction if I’m going to pay for tees.
