Dustin Johnson, Paulina Gretzky announce engagement

For months golf fans have endured (or maybe enjoyed?) photos of Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky’s embraces on Twitter and Instagram. It appears, however, that it was all for a good cause.

Johnson and Gretzky, the daughter of professional hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky, announced their engagement on Twitter over the weekend, tweeting the following:

Gretzky, 24, confirmed with a photo of herself “lipping out” with Johnson with a ring clearly visible on her left hand with the caption “Never been happier.”

Johnson and Gretzky have been together since the PGA Tour’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January, which was Johnson’s last win on the PGA Tour. Although Johnson has struggled with injuries in 2013, he’s played his best golf of the year lately, finishing T2 at the RBC Canadian Open, T33 at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and T8 at the PGA Championship.

He’s currently ranked No. 16 in the FedExCup points list heading into the Tour’s first Playoff event, The Barclays. The winner of the four-event playoff earns more than $10 million in prize money, which would not only be a bigger accomplishment than any of Johnson’s seven PGA Tour wins — it would pay for one heck of a honeymoon.

DJ get back to golf… Maybe get that discipline back you had coming out of ECC 2 good finishes aren’t going to cut it. There is amazing talented golfers hungry for their own trophy wives and boats and bentleys.

You haven’t been truly hungry for a few years. You got comfortable. Get mean. Doesn’t mean you have to drop the hottie. Just get mean!

She is a useless waste of space. Congrats to Wayne for having talent, unfortunately it didn’t transfer to the next generation. So much for Johnson getting better

GolfWRX is on site this week at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island for the RBC Heritage. Plenty of golfers who competed in the Masters last week will be making the quick turnaround in the Lowcountry of South Carolina as the Heritage is again one of the Tour’s Signature Events.
