What is your silliest reason for getting rid of a club? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing the worst reasons for ditching a club. WRXer ‘Von3Jack’ kicks off the thread with a beauty, saying:

“I stopped using my Scotty Cameron after my ex-girlfriend dumped me and started dating a guy named Cameron. That was eons ago, and I’m thankfully over that.

What is your silliest reason for cutting ties with a piece of equipment?”

And our members have been sharing their stories in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • SDG90: “I sold my Nike Vapor Fly Pro irons for $200 after the finish had worn too much for my eyes. Biggest mistake of my life.”
  • hammergolf: “Sound and feel of the i525 irons I just got. Everything else about them is great; I just can’t do the crack/click sound.”
  • bladehunter: “I sold two putters because they went ‘too straight’. I like to feel a little hook in the stroke. These things just burnt right lips all day. True story. I have two witnesses here to me saying that during a round.”
  • cliffy2020: “One short missed putt. That’s all it takes. Can’t get the visual out of my head. Not my fault. Putter sucks. Buh-bye.”

Best Mizuno irons of all time? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mizuno irons. WRXer ‘Tomathist’ wants to know what model are considered the best in each iron category, and our members have been sharing their thoughts in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Mp14forlife: “Mp14. None of this crazy has to have a razor-thin top line nonsense, or crazy has to have zero offset nonsense. Easy to hit for a blade, Little bit of offset and a top line that gives you a bit of confidence and buttery feel! Great clubs!”
  • golf_junkie_85: “MP-33, these are the irons Tiger would’ve used if Titleist didn’t sign him up.”
  • Mirsir69: “Mp-33 has to be up there. All around I would go with the Mizuno pro 223’s though as they’re so versatile and still quite appealing. My only complaint there is I wish they would have forged the 7 iron the same was that they did 8-PW. I don’t mind the 4, 5, & 6 being a little bit hotter. Maybe could’ve gotten away with the 6 being forged as well, but I’m picky about feel.”

What are your ‘workhorse’ clubs? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing their ‘workhorse’ clubs. WRXer ‘Vater’ lays out the criteria saying, “which clubs are your go-to/old reliable/in play the most? (Besides putter of course.)” and gives his selections saying:

“Now, I use my 5 wood all the time (obviously on longer holes) – it’s like a reflex now where I just trust that club. And as I’ve gone with higher probability bump and run chipping instead of the perfect soft flop that I want to do so badly, my go-to wedge has become the 48*. And I think this is a good thing – I’m not necessarily always going to a certain iron; I’m really spreading use across all of them at the proper distances. Surprisingly, my answer to this question is 48* wedge and 5 wood.”

And our members have been sharing their picks in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Cellis: “I thought I would never say this, but definitely 2 iron off the tee. My driver consistency is very much lacking, so if I come across a shorter par 4, it is nice to have a fairway finder with some distance as well.”
  • kmay__: “52 wedge is the workhorse for sure, anything like 85-110, and 90% of chip shots. 7 iron sees a lot of action on par 5 second shots after a good drive.”
  • benthegolfer: “Callaway UW – I won’t ever be able to get rid of it.”
  • courcy75: “PW for me. I can hit it between 95-130 depending on the shot required and feel confident. Very useful to have that club in your bag with South Florida winds lately.”
