Park posts 3-under at St. Andrews

Published

Inbee Park, who is attempting to become the first professional golfer to win four-straight major championships in the same year, shot a 3-under-par 69 in Round 1 of the Ricoh Women’s British Open at The Old Course at St. Andrews.

Park, who played with Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Beatriz Recari, showed no signs of nerves early in the round, making birdies on Nos. 1, 3, 4, 6 and 8 at St. Andrews to card a front-nine 31. The 25-year-old reached 6-under par with a birdie on No. 10, but she couldn’t maintain her torrid pace; she bogeyed Nos. 13 and 17, and made a double bogey on No. 16 to fall all the way back to 2-under.

The South Korean finished her round with a birdie on St. Andrews’ home hole to place herself squarely in the mix, only two shots back of the current lead held by Nicole Castrale (USA), Mi-Jeong Jeon (South Korea), Na Yeo Choi (South Korea) and Stacy Lewis (USA).

Park won the LPGA Tour’s first major, the Kraft Nabisco Championship, by four shots in April. In early June, she won the second leg of the Grand Slam, the LPGA Championship, in a three-hole sudden-death playoff over Catriona Matthew. In late June, Park won the Women’s U.S. Open by four shots for her third straight LPGA major championship title.

Park has also won three other events in 2013 — the Honda LPGA Thailand, the North Texas LPGA Shootout and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Her Round 2 tee time is 11:48 a.m. (local time), which is 6:48 a.m. ET.

You may have your own reasons for not liking her, but you can at least try not to disrespect her talent.

Of all the stupid post, this may be the worse.
She is about to make GOLF history, by winning 4 straight majors. Something a lot definitely care about.
