What GolfWRXers are saying about their first round back from lockdown
In our forums, our members have been discussing their experience shaking off the rust on return to the golf course. WRXers discuss the changes they’ve seen on the course as well as how they got on in their first round back.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- NeverFail26: “Played my first round since November yesterday. The front 9 might have been the worst I’ve had in 3 years. Shot a 62. It was like I had forgotten everything. Pulled it together some on the back 9 and shot a 50. Putting feel was completely off.”
- Rdiver: “I only played 9 myself. 9 over. Lost a lot of feel. Didn’t hit any range balls or practice putting…that would have helped A lot for sure. The course was at its best. Fairways were amazing. No one playing for all most two months was really good for the course.”
- wattage: “Played at Metropolitan in Alameda with my brother at 6:09=sunrise. It was glorious!!! They had raised cups which feels like cheating, shot 68; 4 birds no bogeys. I attribute the good ball-striking to my backyard net; it has allowed me to keep my swing in a good place. With a 4yr and 5-month old, I foresee the net keeping me in the game going forward. Just hitting 3-5 shots a few times a day helps my mental sanity as well as golf game. I debated on posting the score but read an article from USGA encouraging posting so I did.”
- Warrior42111: “Had a little over a month lay off, and ball striking was surprising good for me. One ugly hosel rocket, and short pitch over the bunker I dropped in the bunker. (touch is usually first to go and last to come back for me). Was playing a 2 man scramble match play so it was tough to gauge what I actually would shoot. I would think low 90s taking in account any missed greens on my part and doing a chip and 2 putts.”
- SnapHooker_605: “First round back, I was absolutely striping the ball. Even my pitch shots and chips were looking great. My putting game looked like I had never golfed in my life. The greens were sandy, but they always are in the spring, that is when my course aerates the greens. I noticed that the stupid pool noodle in the hole bothered me tremendously, not sure why that is because I got used to putting with the pin in last year, but I whiffed on so many 3 foot putts that it was disgusting. Hopefully that gets cured.”

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.
- RELATED: ‘There were a number of red flags’ – Ludvig Aberg reveals why he turned down multiple LIV offers
One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:
“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.
Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”
And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
- otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech. He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly. Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy. He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for. There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind. World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
- konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.
