GolfWRX Forum Thread of the Day: “The best sleeper fairway wood of all time?”

Published

on

Today’s GolfWRX Forum Thread of the day comes from “High Plains Driver,” (who maybe should change his name to High Plains Fairway Wood after his thread), asks fellow GolfWRX Members what the best sleeper fairway wood is of all time. He also says, “I have been playing for 30 years now, and fairway woods have been by far the hardest spot in the bag to fill.” Preach.

Here are a few comments from the forum, but make sure to check the whole thread out in the link below:

  • bluedot: “I’ll name one that NOBODY else will name: the Ping Zing 2, Ping’s original metal wood.”
  • hybrid25: “There’s isn’t a best fw of all time, it’s the one that works best for you that is the greatest, and it’s different for everyone.”
  • nsxguy: “Sonartec NP-99”
  • xjohnx: “I don’t know if any Titleist products could be considered ‘sleepers.’ Great woods though!”
  • Pigems: “The Razr Fit Xtreme fairway woods. They look great from address, feel great, sound great and most importantly, hit the ball a long way.”

Nike Sumo Sq 5-wood. Almost impossible to hit bad shots. But given today’s technology I can easily achieve the same distance & dispersion w/ my 3 hybrid…and it’s a full inch shorter & thus easier to control.

2007 Taylormade burner tp woods. Tried to replace it with the m1 and m2 but couldn’t knock it out the bag.

Do many golfers mix and match brands of clubs? As a newbie, I’m hoping that the G30 driver will suit me as I bought the G30 irons and would like a matching set purely for aesthetics.
    I appreciate your input!

Most beginners do because they dont really know what they want at that stage. As for me, there are so many eye candies out there, I purposely try not to match them.

Adams Speedline F11 3+ 13.5 degree. I believe the first Adams line with the face slots. Absolute rocket launcher and had great feel at impact.

Titleist 906F2, sounds like a wood, takes off like a rocket.

Powerbilt TPXL fairway 3-4-5-911 metalwoods with bore-thru shafts and bottom rails. They are slightly oversized heads too. I got em all and will never change them.

I just put mine back into my back-up set. Many have tried to purchase it from me, but I just cannot do the deal.

From the Forums: How are you liking TaylorMade’s Qi10 fairway woods?

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing TaylorMade’s new Qi10 fairway woods. WRXer ‘ace036’ plans on testing them in the next few weeks, saying: “from how they look from address and frame the ball is much more appealing to my eye versus my current Paradym fairway woods.” And our members have been sharing their positive feedback in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Edwardsr: “I got fit into the Qi10 core model with Ventus TR Black 8X and it’s absolutely amazing for me.During the fitting with my 12-15 swings with it, it was the most efficient combo I’ve ever tested, tons of 1.48 smash and 3 or 4 1.49 smash (which I don’t think I’ve ever gotten on 3 wood on a launch monitor).”
  • MiloMalt: “No complaints and so far only high praise for my Qi10 Tour 3 and 5 wood. I’m getting great numbers and a nice penetrating ball flight with great height whereas with my old TSi2 4 wood it was spinny and ballooning and short because of that.”
  • courcy75: “The Qi10 Tour 3 wood I just put in play has been outstanding for me. Finally found something I like as much as the 07 burner tp.”
