Monday’s Photos from the 2017 PGA Championship

GolfWRX is live this week from the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. The course — which was originally designed by George Cobb in 1961, and was later upgraded by Arnold Palmer and Tom Fazio — will play as a 7,600-yard par-71 for the event.

Jordan Spieth, the 2017 Open Champion and No. 2-ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings, has an opportunity this week to become the youngest golfer ever to win the career grand slam. He’s not the betting favorite, however, at 8/1 odds. Rory McIlroy (7/1 odds), who’s currently ranked No. 4 in the OWGR, is touted as the favorite. Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama, the world’s No. 1 and 3-ranked golfers, respectively, are pegged at 12/1 odds to win the season’s fourth and final major.

In last year’s PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club (Lower Course), Jimmy Walker won his first and only major championship by one stroke over Jason Day. Both players are back in this year’s field, and they’re each looking to win their second PGA Championships.

Right. Long pants protects against West Nile Virus tics that lurk on all the golf courses. Watch out!

Awesome in shorts!!! They should allow them at least the first 2 rounds, maybe not in majors or FedEx cup playoffs… During the summer months…

Still seems funny seeing the pros wearing shorts on practice days. Long overdue in the hot summer weather, but still not something you’re used to seeing.

It was great wearing shorts the last practice day at Sunriver this year! Got a little warm.

Phil Mickelson, who has two top-5 finishes at Shinnecock Hills, will seek to fill out his career Grand Slam with a win this week. Also, it’s Tiger Woods’ 10-year anniversary of winning the legendary 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines — that was his most recent major championship victory.

Also in the field are headliners Dustin Johnson (now ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings), Justin Thomas (No. 2), Justin Rose (No. 3), Jon Rahm (No. 4) and Jordan Spieth (No. 5).

Brooks Koepka (No. 9) is the defending champion; he won last year by four shots for his first and only major so far in his career.
