PXG introduces Lydia Ko-inspired “Bat Attack” putter

Published

on

Is there a more popular putter design in recent years than the mallet with “wings”? PXG is the next company to introduce its version of the design.

The “Bat Attack,” equipped with what PXG calls heavy-weighted, heel-toe wings, has a milled face insert and the company’s TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) in its core. According to the company, it’s inspired by Lydia Ko, the No. 1 female golfer in the world.

“The putter’s signature wings are set exactly a golf ball width apart and are designed to assist with alignment and support a high MOI,” says PXG.

The heads are built with aircraft-grade aluminum bodies, 304 stainless-steel faces and TPE face inserts. The overall design is made for greater forgiveness across the face. There are three weight options, including 350-, 375- and 400-gram heads; the 350-gram head has wings that are made from stainless steel, while the 375 and 400 gram heads use high-density tungsten.

No doubt it’s a fine putter with a similar shape so she can aim it correctly – I’m not in love with PXG’s face insert – let’s say it’s not my favorite as it has a light feel off the ball, but it works.

    2) epoxy some rivets on it

    3) Charge $550

    4) profit?

No profit, she ain’t making putts now, unlike how she used to do with the real 2-ball

HUGE Lydia Ko fan here. pretty sure she has a 14 club deal with PXG and is using this Bat Attack putter because she is can’t use the 2 ball. She struggled with her putting so much she even went back to the two-ball a couple weeks ago but it seems that can’t be a long term solution. Wish she had a 13 club contract so she could use the Taylormade spider tour that everyone seems to be using these days, thanks to Jason Day.

Yeah Jason Day sure is lighting it up

She could switch back if her performance truly suffers. Parsons wouldn’t force that 14th club to achieve that it wouldn’t accomplish anything.

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
  • driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300.  The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length.  I am playing a Ventus Red 70.   I play 70 grams in my fairways.  I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee.  When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time.  So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck.  The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
  • JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”
