What Rod Pampling was thinking over his winning putt
If you caught the end of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open yesterday, you saw 47-year-old Rod Pampling put on quite a closing show.

After averting disaster at a 16th hole that saw him spend some quality time among the trees, holding steady at the 17th, then channel Hal Sutton’s “Be the right club” with his approach at the last, Pampling was facing a downhill 30-footer for birdie.
Brooks Koepka was also on the green with a shorter putt for a three that would have tied the veteran Aussie, and well, if you missed it, just watch…
And if you’re wondering what Pampling was thinking over the putt and as he watched it tracking toward the cup, he told reporters after the round.
I didn’t want to give Brooks a chance. It’s funny, I’m not sure — I paced myself out in the Aussie Open last year when I made that monster. I just made sure I just slowed myself down and looked around at the crowd and just relaxed.
I didn’t worry about the putt. I wasn’t looking at whatever. I was just walking, just slowing myself down, exactly what I did there. So it was great to have that memory in my head. And I just trusted what I’d been working on with my putting with John Sinclair at home. Just trust yourself. Just get back to like when you were a kid. That’s what we were trying to do, just look at it, feel it, and when I hit it, it was just — you know, you hit some putts and you think it’s good.
When I hit it, it was like, wow, it felt pure. And just to see six foot out going in the middle, it’s hard to describe the feeling that comes with that, but it was a lot of fun. I hope to do it again.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

I am proud to say that I am Superintendent of Caboolture Golf Club here in Queensland Australia, and it is an honour to witness the history that was made by both Rod Pampling and Daniel Nisbet.
Sitting having morning tea, watching Rod make his putt live on a mobile phone screen was amazing.
Two PGA professional golfers winning PGA sanctioned events on the same day on different parts of the globe, and from the same humble country golf club.
Unsure if this has happened before, but if not, a wonderful piece of history to be involved in

He walked that putt in 18 for the win, and prior to that had the best up-and-down of his life on 16 to save par and take the lead. Great performance!!
