Adams Blue driver hits USGA conforming list

Published

on

Adams Golf hasn’t released a new driver since the 2014 XTD, but it looks like a new driver from the company is on the way.

Adams Blue driver now appears on USGA’s list of conforming clubs. Our sources say it will have a low, rearward center of gravity that tends to work well for golfers seeking more forgiveness from a driver.

From the photo, it looks as though the Blue also has a channel on the sole, which we think may be used to boost ball speeds on shots hit across the face.

The driver is registered on USGA’s conforming list in both right-handed (9.5, 10.5 and 12 degrees) and left-handed (9.5 and 10.5 degrees) options.

If these clubs had TM or Titleist logos, all the bashers would screaming like Justin Beiber fans about how great they were and how they must have them.

Hey all: Kinda funny to see all the comments about how ugly this new Adam driver is from just a black n white pic. that said I wounder if Adams now owned by TM/Adidas should stick to what they do well fairway woods hybrids and irons. How much longer TM keeps Adams around other than hybrids is any ones guess. Thanks

If anyone wasn’t sure about how TMAG would let Adams die of insignificance outside of hybrids, here’s Exhibit A.

Haha, we saw it from the rep the other day, it’s just a cheap box set type club for their new line. They are going way cheap. Haha “D” weight that’s funny!

Maybe because it doesn’t really matter for this little blurb? Sorry your feelings got hurt.

Looks like the “D” accent might also be some sort of weight, to give the driver a bit of draw bias. This combined with the low and back CG probably confirms that the Blue line will favor mid to higher handicap markets. Wonder if they’ll come out with a Driver and more woods for the Red line.

Rickie Fowler’s new putter: Standard-length Odyssey Jailbird 380 in custom orange

Published

Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from a piece our Andrew Tursky originally wrote for PGATour.com’s Equipment Report. Head over there for the full article.

…The Jailbird craze hasn’t really slowed down in 2024, either. According to Odyssey rep Joe Toulon, there are about 18-20 Jailbird putter users on the PGA TOUR.

Most recently, Akshay Bhatia won the 2024 Valero Texas Open using a broomstick-style Odyssey Jailbird 380 putter and Webb Simpson is switching into a replica of that putter at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

Now, Fowler, who essentially started the whole Jailbird craze, is making a significant change to his putter setup.

Fowler, who has had a couple weeks off since the 2024 RBC Heritage, started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup.

According to Fowler, while he still likes the look and forgiveness of his Jailbird putter head, he’s looking to re-incorporate more feel into his hands during the putting stroke.

He told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Championship that the 38-inch counterbalanced setup “served its purpose” by helping him to neutralize his hands during the stroke, but now it’s time to try the standard-length putter with a standard-size SuperStroke Pistol Tour grip to help with his feel and speed control.

Although Fowler was also spotted testing standard-length mallets from L.A.B. Golf and Axis1 on Tuesday, he confirmed that the custom Odyssey Jailbird 380 is the putter he’ll use this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
