The PGA Tour announced on Wednesday that Web.com Tour player Bhavik Patel will serve a year-long suspension for violating the PGA Tour Anti-Doping Policy’s ban on the use of performance-enhancing substances.

Patel accepted a provisional suspension on Oct. 7, 2014 for his violation, and he will be eligible to return to competition on Oct. 7, 2015.

“In an effort to overcome an injury, I made a lapse of judgment.” Patel SAID. “I regret my decision but have learned from the experience and look forward to returning to competition.”

The Fresno State University alum turned professional in 2012. He finished 103rd in the Web.com Tour money standings in 2014 and 56th in the money standings in 2013.

So its OK to do coke, but you can’t take stuff to heal an injury? Crackers. Is this just because Olympics is coming up? Due to medical condition I take testosterone, steroid cream , and lots of anti inflammatory medication. Just as well my golf is crap otherwise I’d be kicked off tour.

This is stupid, golf isn’t football or basketball. Why test for hgh/steroids You swing a lightweight club and walk slowly for 4 hours. Nobody’s sitting in the gym, juicing up, benching 350 thinking “damn, this is getting me closer to playing like Patrick Reed”.

This should be permanent. Playing golf for money is a privilege that people who cheat even one time should lose.

I thought the PGA tour kept mum about its disciplinary proceedings. Why are they announcing this?

because performance-enhancing/anti-doping is a different policy. Recreational drugs kept hush.
