‘The one club you struggle with’ – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing their weakest club in the bag. WRXer ‘Nev Adams’ wants to hear what that club is for other members and kicks off the thread talking about his 5 iron:
“For me it’s the 5 iron. I don’t believe it’s the clubs because it’s been the 5 iron with every iron set I’ve had. There have been times when I hit it great, and now after taking lessons, my 7 iron I hit great. So I think it’s mental. SO how should a guy get through this mental block? I have a 4 iron that I’ve never used, maybe working with it will make the 5 easier?”
And our members have been having their say in our forum.
- Jordan2240: “Definitely my driver. Some days, it will go fairly straight; other days, the ball practically comes back and hits me in the head. But by God, it will not defeat me!!!”
- seis: “This is the first year I subbed a Ping G20 27 degree hybrid into the bag to replace the five iron. It worked well, especially off the tee on longish par 3’s. It makes me feel old, but I will get over it.”
- pcew73: “Mine is the 3 wood the deck. I can not hit that sucker off the ground. I finally went to a 2 hybrid, and it’s great.”
- khalespace: “Driver. I keep hitting it near the heel and have a fade or slice. Sometimes I can’t intentionally hit it on the toe. It is so weird. I am sure some sort of swing problem.”
- Nels55: “When I have a club that is giving me problems, I usually take it out of the bag and put something else in, which is why at the moment I carry a lot of hybrids and no fairway woods. Sometimes if it is a club that I normally like to hit then I will practice with it until I am hitting it better than any other club in the bag. For me, golf is a game of constant adjustment.”

Spotted: Titleist GTS USWO headcovers
GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore was at Riviera Country Club this last week in Los Angeles for the U.S. Women’s Open. While browsing the photos, I spotted a recent major trend in headcovers. That is, the Titleist GTS headcover line expands the majors theme.
Seen on the bag of Natalia Guseva were the red, white, and blue Titleist GTS covers. This is the third time we have seen limited-edition Titleist major covers, the others being at the Masters and the PGA Championship. But with the launch of the GTS line back at the Texas Children’s Houston Open in March, this is the first time we have seen Titleist come out with major themed head covers for the season (driver headcovers through hybrids).
Check out some photos below.

At the Masters, we saw the familiar Masters green, white, and yellow. While the PGA Championship design was colors synonymous with the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team. This shows the season major drops continue full steam ahead for major OEMs. New opportunities for each major for designs and themes, and who knows, maybe a lucky spark for a player and a major championship for their resume. It gets the wheels turning for what major theme headcover you would keep on your bag for the whole season!
