Mizuno unveils new T22 wedges
Mizuno has introduced its new T22 wedges, which arrive in three new finishes and four grind options for varying techniques and conditions.
The new 2021 Mizuno T22 wedges are one-piece grain flow forged using HD boron and feature a microlayer of copper beneath the nickel chrome in a bid to deliver an extra split-second of control at impact.
2021 Mizuno T22 wedges: The details
The T22 wedges feature a slightly more compact, “modified teardrop” profile with an extensively bevelled top edge to make it appear thinner.
The spin weighted blade design, created by tapering the upper portion of the blade, is designed to create more consistent spin as well as a penetrating trajectory.
Speaking on the new T22 wedges, Chris Voshall of Mizuno Golf said
“I’d look at the T22 as a great balance between the ultra-classic looks of the older T7 and the performance traits of the T20. We’ve managed to bevel the top edge in a way to retain the performance of the T20’s tapered blade. But keep the more traditional look of the T7. Both models had a following for very different reasons.”
Mizuno’s HydroFlow Micro Grooves are designed to deliver excellent performance in wet weather as they’re laser etched to release moisture and reduce spin drop-off. At the same time, the Quad Cut milled and loft-specific grooves are cut into boron-infused steel in a bid to provide extra durability.
The T22 wedges are available in three finishes; Denim Copper, Satin Chrome (left-hand option chome finish only) and raw. The raw finish comes without the copper underlay and will rust over time to provide a look requested by many of the top Mizuno tour players.
Mizuno T22 wedges: Four grind options
S Grind – With minimal sole grind for fuller shots and lower lofts
D Grind – With moderate heel and toe relief, allowing gentle manipulation of the clubface
C Grind – With heavy heel and toe relief designed for more skilled players and firmer conditions
X Grind – With extreme heel and toe relief for experts
The T22 wedges will be available at retail from October 14th and are priced at $159.95 each.

Cobra launches 3D-printed LIMIT3D irons
Cobra released its first commercially available 3D-printed steel putter in 2020. Now, the company is bringing its first 3D-printed irons to retail with new LIMIT3D irons, which Cobra’s vice president of product architecture, Jose Miraflor, calls “the most significant technological advancement to happen to the category in the past 20 years” and “a look into the future of golf club design and performance.”
Cobra leveraged the expertise of computational design software firm nTop to create an ambitious design: a compact players blade that offers similar forgiveness as a larger, game-improvement style club and forged iron feel.
Speaking on the partnership, Mike Yagley, Vice President of Innovation & AI, Cobra Golf said, “nTop’s computational design tools integrated with 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, allowed us to create an incredible new design that looks and feels like a forged blade but performs like a larger, game-improvement iron. No one has done this before, and we’re excited to introduce these unique irons to the world.”
As Cobra explains, more forgiving irons are traditionally larger and sacrifice feel. Due to the limitations of casting and forging, creating a more compact, better-feeling iron that still delivers forgiveness was only possible with 3D printing. The resulting profile of Cobra’s LIMIT3D irons is smaller than Cobra’s King Tour irons.
LIMIT3D irons are 3D printed for 316L stainless steel with an internal lattice structure, which allowed engineers to position 33 percent of the iron’s overall weight to the exterior for greater MOI. 100 grams of tungsten is positioned in the heel and toe of each clubhead for low CG for ease of launch and high MOI for greater forgiveness.
Additionally, using nTop’s design software and additive manufacturing allowed for a substantially faster prototyping process, which enabled engineers to test more designs and mass placements for a superior finished product.
