7-wood vs 3-hybrid – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing 7-woods and 3-hybrids. WRXer ‘JMurdock81’ kicks off the thread saying:
“Trying to replace my 210-220 club in my bag right now and thinking of going to a 7 wood from my 3 hybrid. Anyone have experience with this or pick one over the other? I could go with another 3 hybrid, but wondering if the 7 wood might be a better fit. Thoughts?”

- cpelli92: “Txg did a video on this you should look it up. Generally, fairway will go higher than a hybrid. Also, longer shaft, for what that’s worth. Other then yardage, is there anything particular you want it to do?”
- DallasDan: “I tried the 7w experiment, and it didn’t go so well. I traded it back in for a 3h and 4h. Just couldn’t get a consistent height.”
- TheDeanAbides: “I played a 7 wood back when it wasn’t cool because my dad had one. Man, that thing was great with a steel shaft. I’ve carried an ancient Nike CPR 21* hybrid for a decade now and really liked it, but I have the same issue as you. I remember how easy that 7 wood was to hit, and I plan to go back to one.”

I went with a 7 wood 2 years ago because I did nothing but hook the hybrid…7 wood does all three easily, hock, slice, go stright…

Both have worked well for me, but my personal preference is a 7-wood. It comes down to the size of the head. I feel more confident looking down at a 7-wood than I do with a hybrid.
