2012 Dixie Amateur: WITB Pics
GolfWRX is on site at the 2012 Dixie Amateur, an event for men, women and senior amateur golfers in South Florida that hosts one of the strongest fields in amateur golf that will take place Dec. 18 through Dec. 21.
The Men’s division is being played this year over three golf courses — Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla., The Cypress Course at Palm-Aire Country Club in Pompano Beach, Fla., and The West Course at Woodlands Country Club in Tamarac, Fla.
Heron Bay is the home course and will host the final round. The field will be cut from 270 players to the low 72 and ties after two rounds. The winner will be determined over 72 holes of stroke play. The three courses will play between 6800 and 7100 yards.
Curtis Thompson, whose sister Lexi plays on the LPGA Tour and brother Nick plays on the PGA Tour is the defending Men’s Champion. Curtis plays college golf at LSU and is a sophomore. In addition to his win at the 2011 Dixie Am, he finished second at the Players Amateur and had a ninth-place finish at the Porter Cup. GolfWeek has Curtis currently at No. 7 in their U.S. rankings of men’s amateurs.
Past winners of the Dixie Am include Hal Sutton, Lanny Wadkins, Andy Bean, Jesper Parnevik, Ryuji Imada, Brandt Snedeker, Eric Compton, Colt Knost and Peter Uihlein. The winner of the Dixie Am will receive and exemption into the 2012 Canadian Amateur.

Photos from the 2022 PGA Show
GolfWRX was on site for the golf business’s annual winter rite: the PGA Merchandise Show.
While the weather was less than cooperative for demo day, there were no such difficulties inside the Orange County Convention Center. This isn’t to say there weren’t significant figurative headwinds influencing this year’s Show, but those are widely discussed elsewhere. Our duty here was merely to document, and that is what we did to the tune of more than 1,500 photos, below.
Enjoy!

Pants are for poseurs? Seriously?! There are a few adjectives I’d use to describe people like you, but they’d likely get edited out by the mods. I will say this: I wear pants when I play golf 100% of the time, because that’s the dress code I choose to adhere to… I’d also be happy to play you (anywhere) straight up, just to show you how much I’m not a poseur.
Don’t be a keyboard cowboy.
Freedom for legs.

Are your French or do you purposely spell it poseur to highlight your level of douchebaggery.
either way, I will chuckle at you while hacking my way around the course with the wind cooling my bare legs while you sweat your gonads off strictly adhering to proper dress code.
never really understood why trousers where still a requirement on tour.

RE: Shorts. They’ll get plenty of opportunities to wear long pants in hot weather once they’re playing on the PGA Tour. Maybe in the mean time they don’t want to look like posers?!?

Its an amateur event… Shorts are perfectly acceptable if the players chose to wear them.

Not true, shorts are for everybody EXCEPT the PGA, this always bugs me about posers wearing pants on a 100F day.
