The Countdown to the 2012 Ryder Cup

As the Opening Ceremony gets underway in less than than an hour and the anticipation continues to build for 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club, how are you going to follow all of the action?

For iPhone users, the Ryder Cup available in the App Store brings you a live countdown, live scoring, live coverage, the latest in social media surrounding all things Ryder Cup, and more.

Whether you’re following along on your smartphone, setting your PVR to record all of the action or you’re going to be in front of your TV, there’s arguably no bigger spectacle in sports outside of the Olympics.

The Golf Channel’s showing of the ‘War on the Shore’ showcased the beginning of how the Ryder Cup has evolved into what it is today but as the players continue to say in their press conferences or in individual interviews, this isn’t about just them, this is about their respective teams and the countries standing behind them.

As a Canadian, we draw upon the rivalry that exists between Canada and the USA in international hockey and the advantages that playing on home soil provides. In the case of the Ryder Cup, instead of 20,000 fans in a hockey arena, you have the whole grounds at Medinah Country Club that will be largely covered by the Red, White and Blue who truly become the “13th Man.”

No matter how you watch the coverage or stay connected this week to the Ryder Cup, it’s going to be an amazing three days and we’ll hopefully see the world’s best take advantage of a golf course that’s set up to score.
