Adams Introduces Insight XTD Driver

Published

on

Adams Golf has come a long way since they were known primarily as “your father’s brand.”

Riding the success of the BTY and BUL serires of drivers, Adams has introduced the new XTD driver series which features similar geometry driven design to the BUL series. However, the XTD also incorporates new Boxer Technology which increases MOI for greater forgiveness and performance. Adams has also announced that the new XTD drivers will be the official driver of the Long Drivers of America in 2008. The XTD comes in two different options, the XTD A3 which is intended for mid to high swing speed players and the XT3 A3 OS which is designed with more heel bias for players with slower swing speeds. Both clubs feature the new Alidla DVS 55g shaft standard.

XTD A3

The XTD A3 is designed for better players. The neutral face angle and weighting allow better players the ability to work the ball. The Boxer Technology in the club leads to an expanded area of maximum CT which imparts greater ball speed to off center strikes. The club is also designed with a center of gravity to provide optimum launch conditions for higher swing speed players. The XTD A3 is available in lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degrees.

XTD A3 OS

The OS version of the XTD features greater draw bias and face angle. The heel biased weighting helps golfers who struggle with the dreaded slice. Also, the center of gravity is positioned to allow for increased launch angle and greater spin for slower swing speed players. The XTD A3 OS is available in lofts of 9.5, 10.5, 12.5 and HL lofts.

According to Tim Reed, Vice President of Research and Development, “We achieved our goal of creating two distinct driver models with one common purpose, more distance. These are high MOI drivers but not at the expense of less distance like others in the market. By utilizing the advanced shaping and weight distribution of Boxer Technology, we successfully optimized the mass properties for distance first, then forgiveness.” The drivers will enter the market with a MSRP of $349.99 February 1.

I think Adams has done an outstanding job with the visual presentation of this driver. Though its square I believe it is still has a very sharp eye appeal to the better player. Can’t wait to hit it to see if it hits as good as it looks.
