Tweets of the week: Bad spelling, bad hair, a $100 bill and 50 Cent
You’ve inexplicably found your way to another edition of “Tweets of the week,” wherein we take a look at some of the best content from your favorite Tour pros’ Twitter and Instagram accounts.
WGC-Accenture Match Play-related content saturated the Twitterverse this past week, as reaction to Jason Day’s victory and the Houdini acts of Graeme McDowell and Victor Dubuisson was intense. However, there was plenty of other nonsense not related to the WGC this past week in golf-ish twitterings, including an appearance by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, a couple of guys getting absolutely no respect. and another wager settled.
On to the tweets.
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano has one of the longest last names in golf. This has lead, I’m sure, to a number of fans believing the golfer’s middle name is “Fdez,” as that’s how he’s identified on leaderboards for the sake of space. Worse still, it seems he’s used to having the entirety of his name screwed up. He tweeted this picture of his cart sign from a charity pro-am…at least the calligraphy is well done.

Another golfer getting no love in the “spell your name correctly” department, Roberto Castro tweeted this picture of his locker. As you can see, the Texan boldly took matters into his own hands to rectify the mistake.

Following his victory at the WGC-Accenture Match Play, Jason Day tweeted the following message to his fans.

Luke Donald (with a few spelling and grammar errors) expressed this sentiment after Victor Dubuisson’s remarkable recoveries.

Speaking of remarkable, how about the Duf’s hair?

Graeme McDowell retweeted this photo after his series of unbelievable comeback victories.

It’s always cool to see the gold clubs Ping makes when its staffers win (ditto other OEMs). D.A. Points tweeted out this following shot of his “collection.”

I’m not sure if I’m most surprised to see:
a. 50 Cent at the Daytona 500
b. Ian Poulter at the Daytona 500
c. Poulter snapping a shot of the both of them.

Continuing our series of spectacular photos of pros settling bets (remember Lee Westwood last week?) here’s a less-than-thrilled Luke Donald paying up.

Finally, Ms. Piercy may be plotting something. You heard it here first.

The more I see Poulter on social media, the less I like him. Oh, you got another Lamborghini? Aren’t you ****ing special.

The Piercy tweet is disturbing. Guns are far too available in the USA. I don’t get why they need to be a part of normal life. I live in Australia and don’t feel the need to own a gun or have a gun in my house, much less post a photo on twitter making a joke of it (i guess it’s supposed to be a joke). I just don’t understand how it can be so normal to own a gun………in a pieceful society, it’s not normal, it’s disturbing.

I agree 110000%. I live in Canada and watch this gun stuff from above in amazement and disgust. The only reasoning I hear is “it’s in our constitution”. The second amendment was in 1791… it is now 2014, I think it’s safe to say that things have changed since then.
Anyway, love the pics. I had no ides Dufner had that much hair, haha.
Congrats to Day on the win!

It’s 2014 and a whole lot more dangerous than it was in 1791. It’s okay to be uncomfortable with guns, when people get too comfortable, preventable accidents happen. To accept society as “peaceful” however is keeping your head in the sand. Turn on the news.
Piercy’s tweet is funny btw

Ummm… I don’t know whether to laugh or have pity. I have turned on the news, the media does not report many things useful and positive, you can’t simply base a gun law off of that, lol.
Like Marty pointed out, crime rates in the U.S are at an all time low… I think you’ve got your head in the wrong pile of sand if you didn’t know this.

Ditto, great to see Jason Day get a big win. I love watching him play and see how he takes a huge swipe at pretty much everything. Nothing like just letting it all go!

if you dont feel the need to own a firearm that is totally fine.
in america it is our constitutional right to possess one if we so choose.
it is a part of americas national heritage. some people cherish this right and others abhor it.
I own firearms to hunt animals and protect my family.
I am fairly certain people all across the world have been killing animals for food with weapons for at least a few thousand years. And I also believe protecting my family is one of the most noble causes of mankind.
If this is disturbing or abnormal to you, I apologize.
For what it is worth, I am thankful to live in a country that gives citizens the right to choose what is right/best for them as opposed to restricting them from even the option of choosing.
I would never try to force someones opinion on the matter or call them disturbing for not wanting to own a gun, but I am thankful for my right to bear arms.

You live in a country that had citizens sit in different sections of a bus, use different washrooms and many other extremely unjustifiable measures not too long ago, the subsequent damage is still apparent in today’s society.
You truly believe your country allows you to choose what’s best for you? Citizens can get away with shooting kids, but certain ethnic kids go to prison for possession of a few grams lol. Again, could provide several different examples and contexts. Get your head out of the hole you’re in bud
Also ask yourself how many people own a gun for the sole purpose of hunting or defending their family. Ignorance is bliss

when it comes to gun ownership they do let us choose for ourselves.
do i agree with everything that is happening in my country, of course not, no one does. it is not perfect but i still believe it is the best place in the world to live.
as to our past, i never claimed america was a perfect place, no country is and almost every country has a checkered past if you look back far enough. I am proud of everything in our past, no. I am proud to be an american, yes.
yes discrimination still exists in many forms, that does not make it right. however, just because i am an american and proud of it does not make me complicit with every injustice that occurs in my country.
most citizens do not “get away” with shooting kids, most are convicted and many acts of violence are prevented.
you cannot have freedom, privacy and absolute security, it is up to the citizens, politicians, judges, etc to decide how to balance them all.
just my opinion
not sure about gun ownership percentages just glad to have the choice.
im headed back to my hole, have a great day
