apex pro are great irons…..you just have to know how to swing.

Does anyone know Phils bounce setups on his wedges? I’m sure he probably changes them depending on course conditions and setup? What’s his standard?

Does anyone know if Phil plays standard length irons?

Watched him hit the 18* hybrid onto the front fringe on #14 at quail hollow. The shot went 302 yards according to shotlink.

With a 75 and a 76 on the cards and more missed putts from 3 feet than my grandmother I don’t see the relevance of this being a headline bag.
Also he’s using a PE2 wedge to circumvent the tours rules on grooves. Plenty on the net on this. It’d be a slazenger #45 wood if it had non conforming grooves he could use.

The Ping eye 2 XG wedge is a new offering from ping, different than the old +. Has conforming grooves

2013 x forged are better irons than the Apex Pros

I agree. That’s why there so many people putting up their apex/apex pros for sale on ebay. I went in for a custom fitting from Dave from tour custom to try tour issue apex pros amongst other irons. Very disappointed. Was clicky and didn’t like the way they felt. Not that it really matters, but they were consistently 8 yards shorter as well. Very shitty offering from Callaway.

I see one apex iron in the bag ? I’m assuming it’s a 3 or 4 iron ???

Josh,
He has taken the Apex 3 iron out of the bag to add another wedge (Callaway X-Forged ’13 PW) this week. The club list is 100 percent accurate, but for a golfer who changes clubs as much as Phil, it’s hard to always provide matching photos.

I bet Callaway is glad he replaced the Anser hybrid

Does Phil ever play the same set of clubs for two consecutive weeks? The ultimate tinkerer.

That putter has like 2+ shaft offset… crazy! serious forward presser right there.

I wonder why he switched from the apex pro back to the x forged

I don’t think he ever got comfortable with the Apex Forged. I saw him hit one on Sunday at the PGA, a long iron, but I haven’t seen Phil with Apex Pro’s yet. X forged 2013 since last year

Because they suck. I tried them at a custom fitting. Very clicky and short. Ever notice how there are a lot of apex pros on ebay?

The Ping wedge is in the first pic – has lead tape covering the logo. Bottom rt corner. Love it that he’s using an old PE2.

Its actually a new one with conforming grooves. Has the old look but no box grooves

Nothing better off of a tight lie than a Ping Eye wedge. The sole grind and accented toe make it really easy to hit out of desert hard scrabble and tight fairways.

I game Ping Eye 2+ S and L and I’ve always said there has been different designs, but no improvement on that club as far as chipping, pitching and trouble shots. It’s not the grooves, it’s the sole grind and toe accent that make it so solid and so versatile. Nice to see lefty agrees. Would like to see a picture though!
One last thing, as far as he hits the Frankenwood and as much as he struggles with driver I’m amazed he keeps going back to it. I think it’s co-dependency!

No retail lefty 2deep!

In one of the pictures you can see a P and a 64 degree wedges. I think he mixes stuff up all the time by taking one of the wedges out.

The fubuki k is a mediocre shaft. I had one in my bag 2 years ago and sprayed it everywhere but straight. I had friends on tour that hated it as well for the same reasons and it never even made their bag. Switched to a DI-7x and started hitting 300+yard bombs again. Don’t know how you can call the fubuki k a good shaft.

Doesn’t that leave a big gap between his *52 degree GW and his 9 iron, no PW?
