Mizuno MP-69 Irons Boast Enhanced Muscle Back Technology Ideal for Elite Golfers

New 4D Muscle Design Optimizes Flow throughout the Set for Ultimate Shot and Ball Control

Press release- Mizuno, a leader in golf technology and innovation, today announced the addition of the MP-69 irons to their already iconic muscleback lineup. Blending the input of Mizuno’s PGA Tour staff members with state of the art design and simulation tools, the MP-69 irons are the perfect balance of patented Grain Flow Forged™feel, and unmatched workability.

The MP-69 irons are designed with precision craftsmanship to maintain the standards MP players have come to expect. Mizuno incorporates a newly developed 4D Muscle design to further optimize the set, resulting in a consistent sweet spot height throughout the line that creates predictable penetrating trajectory. This 4D Technology combined with Grain Flow Forging gives players shot and ball control, and ultimate feel. Utilizing Harmonic Impact Technology (H.I.T.), Mizuno scientifically tunes the sound of each club head to further enhance the feel.

“Utilizing 4D Muscle design technology, the Mizuno MP-69 irons are a breakthrough in muscleback iron design,” said Dick Lyons, VP and General Manager, Mizuno USA, Inc. “Mizuno is well known for its MP line of irons and serious golfers around the world look to us for the latest and greatest. We are extremely excited about the MP-69’s and believe they will deliver game-changing results.”

The sole shape of the MP-69 irons was slightly redesigned to maintain effective bounce while increasing overall workability through trailing edge relief. An ideally placed beveled trailing edge delivers more consistent ball striking with a Tour proven sole size and shape. Complete with the appropriate amount of relief for a deeper Center of Gravity (COG), Mizuno’s new sole design increases the versatility of the MP-69 irons. Modified U-grooves, which conform to the Condition of Competition 2010, produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability in all conditions.

Mizuno Launches MP-59 Irons with Ti Muscle Technology Offering Added Forgiveness in a Player Preferred Appearance

Mizuno, a leader in golf technology and innovation, today announced the launch of the Grain Flow Forged™MP-59 irons with the next generation of their award winning forged Ti Muscle technology. The MP-59s feature a titanium insert forged into the center of the muscle, which provides cavity like forgiveness in a player’s half cavity design.

During the elaborate Grain Flow Forging process, 12 grams of pure Titanium material is forged into the muscle of the MP-59 to deliver a 5% larger Sweet Area compared to the MP-58, the iron which debuted Ti Muscle Technology, while taking home “Editor’s Choice” in Golf Digest’s 2010 Hot List. This provides the ideal amount of thickness behind the impact area for solid feel, while the higher density steel on the toe, heel, and sole provides a dramatic increase in perimeter weighting for enhanced playability. This design allows for an easier launch and more forgiveness due to both a lower Center of Gravity (COG) and larger sweet spot area. This revolutionary Ti Muscle technology maximizes feel and forgiveness, all in a compact players’ head size.

“With Mizuno’s Ti Muscle technology, we’ve preserved the soft feel and compact head size that Mizuno MP players expect, while increasing forgiveness, which is truly the “holy grail” combination of performance characteristics for today’s more serious players,” said Dick Lyons VP and General Manager, Mizuno USA, Inc. “The MP-59’s are ground breaking in concept and design, with a look, feel, and play unlike any forged iron Mizuno has delivered to date.”

The MP-59 irons have a traditional MP sized head shape, thus enhancing workability for the accomplished player. With a Tour confirmed sole, and overall compact head shape, the MP-59 irons allow varied shot-making delivery and control for consistent ball striking from the widest variety of lies.

The Grain Flow Forged material that makes up the MP-59 irons provides a soft and consistent experience at impact, while the titanium forged into the head delivers even more of a solid feel. A double-nickel chrome finish, highlighted with a black chrome stainless steel accent, gives an elegant and durable finish that player’s desire.

Utilizing Harmonic Impact Technology(H.I.T.), Mizuno perfectly tuned the sound at impact to deliver the ultimate feel. Modified U-grooves, which conform to the Condition of Competition 2010, produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability in all conditions.

Spotted: Nate Lashley’s Ping PLD “Wolverine” putter

Published

on

Ping PLD putters have been a very common site on profesional tours. Pros seem to gravitate toward the PLD line’s custom options and precision milling. We have seen the PLD line expanded over the years, but we haven’t seen too many, if any, large mallets.

This week we spotted a PLD putter in Nate Lashley’s bag that has a similar look to the old Ping Wolverine head shape. This putter is a large mallet with the famous “claws” on the outside and oval center that housed the alignment aid.

Nick’s putter has the PLD logo on the back but also looks like it might have an insert installed on the face. It is hard to tell but at the address picture, it looks like the face is a lighter material than the rest of the putters. The putter is center-shafted and should be face-balanced with a high MOI for stability and forgiveness on mishits. The sole is completely milled and has no markings of name or technologies that might be present in the head. A single white site line is on the top of the putter for alignment.

Nick’s putter is finished off with a chrome steel shaft and a Super Stroke Zenergy Flatso 2.0 grip in black and white.
