PGA Tour pro rips Sergio Garcia over trip to Texas college game following Wentworth WD

Published

on

Having made it abundantly clear that he was ready to fight for the chance to play DP World Tour events, Sergio Garcia withdrew from the tour’s flagship event at Wentworth without giving a reason.

After shooting an opening-round 76 on Thursday, Garcia wasn’t sticking around for the remainder of the event, and when the tournament restarted on Saturday, the Spaniard had already made his way to Texas.

On Saturday, Garcia and his wife were spotted alongside Longhorns alum Scottie Scheffler and his wife at the Texas-Alabama football game.

Unsurprisingly, the 42-year-old’s decision to withdraw after one round without citing a reason only to be then spotted relaxing at a college football game didn’t sit well with everyone. Sky Sports Journalist James Weir tweeted:

“Jon Rahm told me on Tuesday it was particularly personal for him that certain players were in the field this week as his good friend Alfredo García-Heredia was first reserve. Had Sergio García withdrawn before his opening round rather than after it, AGH would have played.”

While responding to a tweet from No Laying Up, who were summarizing the performance of LIV pros at Wentworth, Byeong Hun An did not hold back with his thoughts on the withdrawal from Sergio.

The fabulous Eamon Lynch, with what I regard as the Last Word on Sergio Garcia. This is brilliant writing:

Wahhh Bob the crybaby. Sergio is a douche, no doubt about that. But his wife is smoking and way better than any of the creatures you’ve probably ever had a talk to. You spend so much time in these comments on things you say you don’t like or care for that I’m completely convinced you actually love every last thing about LIV. What else would you complain and continue with your internet tough-guy act about if LIV didn’t exist?

The stories coming out of the PGA regarding LIV or other golfers is looking more akin to the Kardashians than sport. These stories are a huge turnoff and it may be time to exit another social media platform. Boring stuff guys.

Agree. The PGA protests like the illegal monopoly they are.
They’ve been such di-cks, they moved me into cheering LIV at every turn.

Americans need no excuse to hit out at a successful former adversary. Am I wrong, has Sergio garnered more Ryder Cup points off Uncle Sam than any other player alive or dead? Yes, he’s petulant; yes, he’s perennially a child; and yes, he’s really only interested in money. So, for that matter, are most of the world top 100. They’re all money-grabbing hypocrites, whichever side of the fence they’re on. Look forward to LIV getting a proper lawyer on board rather than the clown who batted for them in California. And, by the way, where did all that new money on the PGA Tour come from? Copyright, Phil Mickelson. As for the media coverage, you (PGA Tour) pay for all those meals, drinks, hotel rooms, air tickets, transfers, wi-fi installations, etc, so you’ve got to expect something in return. Well played chaps, Fourth Estate at its most venal.

It’s recently been the silver spoon, drink tea with your pinky up, and wear 50k watches loser league.. Can’t think of a single current player in the PGA that went thru school of hard knocks. They all went to the best schools, and had the best coaching, etc…. Is what it is, but these tards talking need to zip the yap.

Phil Mickelson likes tweet suggesting major LIV critic asked for $55m to join rebel tour

Published

on

Phil Mickelson’s recent social media activity may indicate that one of LIV Golf’s biggest critics actually attempted to join the rival league before being denied by LIV.

The speculation began when Tiger Woods’ former swing coach, Hank Haney, said on his podcast that there was a PGA Tour player who’s been adamantly against LIV that initially had attempted to join the breakaway tour for an asking price of $55 million.

Many people on Twitter immediately started speculating (and some were hoping) that the player that Haney was referencing could be Billy Horschel.

Apparently, Phil Mickelson had been monitoring the saga from his Twitter account, because as this was happening, “Lefty” started liking tweets that were accusing Horschel of being the player that asked for the $55 million.

If the player in question turned out to be Horschel, it would be a tough look for the 36-year-old. He’s gone as far as anyone in his criticism of players who’ve opted to join LIV Golf.

“I honestly don’t think that the American guys who haven’t supported the PGA Tour should be here.

“The Abraham Ancers, the Talor Goochs, the Jason Kokraks – you’ve never played this tournament, you’ve never supported the DP World Tour. Why are you here? You are here for one reason only and that’s to try and get world ranking points because you don’t have it.

“It’s hypocritical because of what some of these guys have said they wanted to play less golf. It’s pretty hypocritical to come over here and play outside LIV when your big thing was to spend more time with family and want to play less golf.”

Tiger Woods reveals the best celebrity foursome he’s ever played with

Published

on

With Capital One’s The Match set to take place this weekend, Tiger Woods was asked about the best celebrity foursome that he’s ever played a round with.

Tiger replied:

“[John] Smoltz, [Tom] Glavine and [Greg] Maddux when they were all pitching with the Braves. That was epic. I shot 62, 62 and lost money.”

The three pitchers combined to win seven National League Cy Young Awards in the 1990s and led the Atlanta Braves to a World Series win in 1995.

The 15-time major champion was also asked what his “dream foursome” would be, to which he replied: “It wouldn’t be a foursome. It would be my dad, myself and Charlie.”

Tiger’s father, Earl, passed away in 2006 and his son, Charlie, was born in 2009.

Former NBA star turned college golfer J.R. Smith taking lessons from Tiger’s ex-coach

Published

on

Former NBA player J.R. Smith is now taking golf lessons from Tiger Woods’ former coach, Chris Como.

The lessons can be seen on the new show “Private Lessons” on the premium subscription of GolfPass.

Of his lessons with Como, Smith said, “For me, I think the most appealing part (about taking a lesson from Como) was about like how fast the transition for him to understand. Like, obviously, everybody doesn’t think the same,” he added, “but to make to feel certain sensations in the golf swing.”

The two-time NBA Champion made $90 million as a basketball player but signed an NIL deal as a golfer in early 2022.

In addition to working with Tiger Woods and Smith, Como has also worked with Bryson DeChambeau, who won the 2020 U.S. Open under his guidance.
