Billy Horschel and Ian Poulter involved in apparent heated exchange on putting green at Wentworth

If ever a clip was going to sum up this year’s BMW PGA Championship, then surely National Club Golfer’s George Cooper wins the gold medal.

Having already caused some contention between “legitimate” DP World Tour players and the 17 LIV golfers taking part this week, defending champion Billy Horschel came alongside Ian Poulter on the practice putting green today, and nobody knows quite what they said.

Lipreaders might have a field day, but the rest of us can only guess at what the exchange was about, with confirmed LIV player Poulter, making several hand gestures that suggest he was asking Billy Ho to calm it down a tad.

Of course, Twitter would not let this one go, and replies were mixed between downright insulting and hilarious.

Horschel had his supporters: “In BHo’s defence, his beef was with players who said they wanted to play less, and have never played DP before. He specifically said he had no beef with Poults and Westy who didn’t say that,” whilst a couple of others referred to Horschel’s apparent love of East London soccer side, West Ham United and their capital city rivals in a match they called, “West Ham vs. Arsenal,” touching on Poults being a huge fan of the Gunners.

NCG’s Hannah Holden was among many that tweeted a reference to a boxing match and may have referred to Talor Gooch’s reply to Horschel’s initial accusation when tweeting his “comments:”

“I’ve never been to a boxing match, but I can’t believe there’s a whole lot of difference,” whilst anyone in doubt as to the atmosphere may heed the tweet:

“Love the 3rd dude in the video who came up to say ‘Hey’ and then realized this wasn’t his moment to chop it up with boys. Pulled the Homer Simpson.”

The DP World Tour flagship event is being overshadowed by some absolute nonsense so far this week, and perhaps organizers should have played this a lot different, but as suggested by many, we seem sure to be in for a contentious week at Wentworth.

I don’t understand why there’s a problem. Could it be Billy is jealous because he didn’t get a mega bucks offer. LIV and let Liv. Jay M has caused this problem being a dictator.

Anyone else notice that only the PGA players make comments and the LIV guys just play? Have the LIV players criticized people for staying on the PGA tour? Not that I have heard. Billy Ho has played in a whopping 6 DP tour events yet he calls these other guys out. Dude STFU already.

Billy Horschel, relevant due to mass exodus of better players.

‘It’s a slap in the face’ – Patrick Reed hits out at DP World Tour over treatment at latest events

This week, Patrick Reed is playing in the Cazoo Open De France at Le Golf National. The course is where the 2018 Ryder Cup was held. The European Team won the trophy, and Reed was only able to muster one point in three matches.

This week however, Patrick Reed was the betting favorite entering play. Despite being somewhat of a regular on the DP World Tour, Reed feels as though the treatment he’s received this week has been “a slap in the face”.

Reed is by far the biggest name in the field, but wasn’t asked to play in the pro-am or conduct a pre-tournament press conference. Of course, this treatment is a result of the 33 year old’s decision to join LIV Golf.

According to The Telegraph, Reed told Journal du Golf: “It’s a slap in the face not to invite me to do a press conference here, or as happened in Wentworth, not to have me play the pro-am and all those things. At the end of the day, it’s just my golf that I have control over. I’m here to support the Tour, France and all the people who are here.”

“But I don’t see why we can’t move from the LIV to the European Tour like we usually move from the PGA Tour to the European Tour. A lot of players understand and support my choice and have nothing against me. I didn’t feel any animosity against me from them.”

While there have been some players who have publicly stated they have no issues with the players who’ve chosen to go to LIV, there have also been a number of players who have done the opposite.

LIV golfers are currently able to participate on the DP World Tour due to a temporary court order until it is resolved legally. A decision on their eligibility going forward is expected to be given in February.

Congress members blast ‘pimp’ Greg Norman in meeting at Capitol Hill

On Wednesday, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman met with members of congress to discuss LIV’s current dispute with the PGA TOUR.

It didn’t go very well.

According to multiple sources, Republican Tim Burchett of Tennessee walked out of the meeting due to an inability to understand Norman due to his accent as well as the “propaganda” he felt Norman was sharing.

Burchett later sent a tweet himself about the meeting with “The Shark”.

Burchett wasn’t the only member of congress to give Norman a hard time.. Chip Roy of Texas said to reporters of the meeting: “Don’t come in here and act like you’re doing some great thing, while you’re pimping a billion dollars of Saudi Arabian money,”

It’s unclear whether or not any of the lawmakers gave Norman the reception he was looking for, but he did later thank them for meeting with him via an Instagram post.

Golf Channel analyst roasts Patrick Reed during Presidents Cup coverage

The Presidents Cup gets underway today, with the U.S expected to dominate an International side heavily depleted due to LIV Golf defections.

A mainstay in the U.S. side in both the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, Patrick Reed is another who misses out, but it hasn’t stopped Rich Lerner of Golf Channel from taking a swipe at the divisive Texan during coverage this week.

While showing a highlight of Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed celebrating after a Ryder Cup match victory, Lerner weighed in cheekily saying:

“Once known as ‘Captain America’, Reed is now paid by the Saudis to play golf.”

One commenter piled on, tweeting that Lerner should be careful of a lawsuit, referring to Reed’s defamation suit against Brandel Chamblee and the Golf Channel.

Reed is currently in action this week at the Open De France at Le Golf National.
