Max Homa hilariously breaks down LIV Golf negotiations

On the day that Brooks Koepka confirmed golf’s worst-kept secret by joining the LIV Golf Series, and Collin Morikawa told us he pours milk before adding cereal, Twitter guru Max Homa decided to have a bit of fun at the rebel tour’s expense.
The World Number 23 has voiced his support for the PGA Tour over the past months, initially commenting at Riviera:
“What I do know about is the PGA Tour. I’ve played it for a little over a handful of years, and it’s created some really awesome memories for me. So at the moment I would say I’m pretty biased, I very much enjoy playing out here. I think they’ve done a great job of giving us an opportunity to compete for something we love. And if you do love money, too, we play for a lot of that out here, too. It’s not so bad.”
In May, the 32-year-old was asked what he knew of the offers made to then current PGA Tour players, and replied he knew “absolutely nothing about what’s going on”, while also adding that the blow-out and excessive media attention was “exhausting”.
Yesterday, he cranked it up a notch by following the lead from Rory McIlroy and suggesting it was all about money, and money only with a sly, but amusing tweet.
Here’s how I imagine the 54 Tour negotiates with players:
54: we’ll offer u $10mill
Player: not interested
54: ok $100mill
Player: wait what are u seriou—
54: OK $200mill!!!
Player: deal deal ok deal— max homa (@maxhoma23) June 21, 2022
With LIV players Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson accepting huge amounts of money to join the Tour, this was a simple but effective tweet that may suggest the four-time PGA Tour winner has been approached several times. He would, after all, be a huge draw, with a recent win at the Wells Fargo, 11 made cuts in a row and over 400k Twitter followers.
For now, and after the PGA Tour confirmed several no-cut limited-field events, it looks like Max is staying with the crowd.

Tour legend reveals $300+ million offer from the mysterious World’s Affluent Golf League

The current turmoil between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and the LIV Golf Series has led to some genuine bite-back from players such as Rory McIlroy, but also some amusing twists to the plot.
We reported yesterday on Max Homa’s take on the LIV/player negotiations and four-time PGA Tour winner, and renowned joker, Tim Herron, has joined in the fun.
In a tweet posted on Wednesday, the 52-year-old posted a ‘letter’ from the Government of Estovakia, offering an incentive package to join the WAGL – the World’s Affluent Golf League!
The ‘tour’ is offering all its players “5” diameter cups” and permission “to carry 28 clubs.”
Herron – or ‘Lumpy’ as he is better known – has also been offered, apart from a hefty sum of money (mix of crypto and cash), a “120 to 160-ft yacht” – importantly ‘blue or grey’; a “Tyrannosaurus Rex bone”; one 32″ bust of “yourself”, and “4 cases of Orbit chewing gum.”
Surely Lumpy, who is winless since the Colonial in 2006, and who has yet to win on the Champions Tour in two years, will not resist such an offer!
I await your counteroffer, @ChampionsTour @PGATOUR pic.twitter.com/o1QoHQMvnn

Did The Simpsons predict Matt Fitzpatrick’s major US Open moment?

US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick has been on something of a high ever since lifting the trophy last Sunday.
With his social media full of photos of him holding the trophy, eating meals with the trophy and probably sleeping with the trophy, he certainly wasn’t fibbing when he said that, “Words really can’t describe the feeling of winning a major, it’s 1000x better than I ever thought it would be.”
Perhaps winning his first major, and subsequently his first PGA Tour event, at The Country Club, some nine years after being crowned US Amateur at the same course, was written in the stars, or maybe a cartoon family had more to do with it.
In a tweet yesterday, the now world number 10, compared his celebration on the 15h hole to that of Marge Simpson, the long-suffering wife of Homer, in the award-winning animated series, commenting, “The Simpsons always knows….”

Of course, many have credited the satirical series with predicting several events over the 33 years of the Simpson’s existence, including the rise of Donald Trump to President and the winner of the Super Bowl in 1992, and for the next two years in succession.
Either way, by defeating world number one Scottie Scheffler, perennial major contender Will Zalatoris and 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, and with his affable demeanour, Fitz launched himself into near-legend status on a day he said, ” is a moment I could only dream of.”

LIV Pro has surprising reaction to sketch video roasting Saudi rebel stars

Conor Moore, also known as @ConorSketches on Twitter has become well known for his excellent impressions of professional golfers. Most recently, he posted a sketch poking fun at the golfers who have joined the controversial LIV Golf series.
The scene depicts Brooks Koepka being introduced by Ian Poulter to the rest of the LIV Golf defectors.

Graeme McDowell, who’s also a LIV defector, saw the sketch on Twitter and had a surprising reaction. Although the sketch didn’t paint he and others in the best light, he complimented the sketch.
Good stuff right here from @ConorSketches https://t.co/OsFA7XHdJ4

It’s good to see that McDowell has maintained his signature sense of humor through all of the criticism he’s faced in recent months.

AGREE. I find it peculiar the PGA Tour met with their players and decided to FOLLOW two key aspects LIV Golf offers those who come aboard, more money, and the not so great limited events with no cut. Ahahahahahahaaaaaa!! Jay, you boneheaded, indoctro-procto Biden voter.LIV Golf HAS NO CUT, it’s 18 holes and one day less, a shotgun start that makes a round shorter time wise to play. Make no mistake, you couldn’t manage a bowl of oatmeal at the breakfast table, much less professional golf…..

I personally found it HILARIOUS! Perhaps a few humor lessons are in order?! Just because you CAN comment, doesn’t mean you should.
