Callaway launches new Jaws Raw wedges
Callaway has today launched the new Jaws Raw wedges featuring some of the most aggressive grooves in golf with a raw face that promotes maximum spin.
The new additions feature razor-sharp grooves with a 37 degree wall angle designed to elevate the groove-edge sharpness. Per the company, from 80 yards and in, these grooves aim promote a controlled “one hop and stop” trajectory.
Callaway has removed the plating on the face, which allows for rusting over time in the scoring zone while maintaining the premium look throughout the rest of the clubhead. Removing the plating is designed to enable a more direct connection between the ball and the face at impact.
The wedges feature offset Groove-in-Groove technology, with the milled micro-grooves positioned at a 20-degree angle, designed to promote added spin on chips, pitches, and lob shots. In addition, a muted toe pad on the face reduces glare at address.
With the Jaws Raw wedges, tungsten is in a Callaway wedge for the first time ever, on the sand and lob wedges, to center the CG position for control and feel. Variable-length hosels are also engineered to control trajectory while enhancing forgiveness.
The all-new Z grind is a more forgiving low bounce option, with an aggressive leading-edge chamfer that bids to improve turf interaction. This chamfer acts as a “skid plate” in design to help reduce digging on chip and pitch shots.
All sand and lob wedge grinds also feature a leading-edge chamfer that is designed to reduce digging. Along with the all-new Z grind, the comprehensive Jaws Raw lineup includes the brand’s standard S, wide sole W, and high bounce X grind, providing 17 loft and bounce combinations per finish.

Spotted: Nate Lashley’s Ping PLD “Wolverine” putter
Ping PLD putters have been a very common site on profesional tours. Pros seem to gravitate toward the PLD line’s custom options and precision milling. We have seen the PLD line expanded over the years, but we haven’t seen too many, if any, large mallets.
This week we spotted a PLD putter in Nate Lashley’s bag that has a similar look to the old Ping Wolverine head shape. This putter is a large mallet with the famous “claws” on the outside and oval center that housed the alignment aid.
Nick’s putter has the PLD logo on the back but also looks like it might have an insert installed on the face. It is hard to tell but at the address picture, it looks like the face is a lighter material than the rest of the putters. The putter is center-shafted and should be face-balanced with a high MOI for stability and forgiveness on mishits. The sole is completely milled and has no markings of name or technologies that might be present in the head. A single white site line is on the top of the putter for alignment.
Nick’s putter is finished off with a chrome steel shaft and a Super Stroke Zenergy Flatso 2.0 grip in black and white.

Hopefully they release a full raw model. I want all of my wedge to get a nice patina, not just the face. The shape looks good, though.
