Mizuno unveils three new M.Craft Omoi putters

Published

on

Mizuno Golf has today introduced three new M.Craft Omoi putters to their flat-stick lineup.

Forged from premium 1025 carbon steel and CNC milled, using all the fundamentals of the original M-Craft models, the Omoi putters feature a heavier head weight to increase MOI in design for improved stability.

The process that Mizuno used to achieve the greater stability involved taking a view of the entire club – balancing out the increased head weight with a lighter grip and shaft to shift the club’s CG and help control face rotation through the putting stroke.

Omoi 01 is a slant neck blade weighing 370 grams (60-degrees of toe hang, ¾ shaft offset).

Omoi 02 is a plumber’s neck blade weighing 370 grams (40-degree of toe hang, full shaft offset).

Omoi 03 is a full mallet weighing 383 grams(Face Balanced, full shaft offset).

“Our testing showed that locating more of the overall club weight in the head provided more consistent face rotation through impact. We’ve added up to 28g depending on the model, without increasing size or losing the precise feel of the original M.Craft. Plus, unlike most MOI orientated putters – the new Omoi also give incredible feedback off the face.” – Mizuno’s Director of R&D David Llewellyn

The M.Craft Omoi putters are available in three finishes – New Double Nickel, bold Blue Ion or intense Black Ion. There’s also a Black Out option that comes with KBS Tour Black Ion-plated shaft, Lamkin Omoi Sink Fit Pistol grip and a blacked-out M.Craft headcover.

In addition, each putter also comes with an additional weight kit – including a pair of 3g and 13g weights that are interchangeable with the 8g fitted as standard.

The putters cost $349.95 each.

Great putter, I have the blacked out 03 version. One issue, the headcover isn’t great for that model. Quality leather material, just very tight and sits really oddly on the putter once it’s on.

WITB Time Machine: Paul Casey’s winning WITB, 2019 Valspar Championship

Published

on

At the 2019 Valspar Championship, Englishman Paul Casey took the trophy at the Copperhead Course for the second year in a row. On a difficult Sunday, Casey’s 1-over 72 was good enough for a one-stroke victory over Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Kokrak as Dustin Johnson faltered.

Check out Casey’s clubs from five years ago below.

Driver: TaylorMade M4 (10.5 degrees)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 70 TX (tipped 1 inch)

3-wood: TaylorMade M1 (15 degrees)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 80 TX Limited (tipped 1.75 inches)

Shafts: Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 120 TX

Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM7 (52-08F, 56-10S), Vokey Proto (60)
Shaft: Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 120 X

Putter: Scotty Cameron Circle T 350-SSS
Grip: Scotty Cameron Matador

Grips: Golf Pride ZGrip Cord Midsize

Golf Ball: Titleist Pro V1

Mizuno’s Senior Club Engineer, Chris Voshall told us Casey’s somewhat surprising setup in his long irons is simply the product of Casey hitting the windows he wants to with the particular clubs in question.

“It’s all based on the height of the ball flight,” Voshall said. The MP-25 3-iron was more penetrating and better for him off the tee, so he kept it in there.”
